Tyler must have gotten the news from Jade, which was why he came back.
He gazed at Vicky. âDid he give you any trouble?â
âNo. Old Mister Hart just came to see me.â After a pause, Vicky asked, âHowâs your injury? Is it any
better?â
âWhy didnât you come to see me if you knew I was hurt?â
Tylerâs question confused Vicky. âYou asked me to come back to rest, no?â
âYes, but I didnât say you canât visit me.â
âI feel like throwing up whenever I smell the scent of disinfectant in the hospital.â
Tyler smiled coldly. âSo you canât even come once?â
Vicky did not understand why he would be upset.
âYou told me to stay home whenever I text you. And like I said, I get nauseous whenever I go to the
hospital. Plus, I
havenât been out more than a handful of times in the past few weeks.â
âDo you feel nauseous because of the scent of disinfectant or because of me?â he asked forcefully.
âNo, youâre mistaken. Itâs not that I donât want to see you, but itâs really because I canât stand the smell
of the disinfectant.â
âThen how do you explain you didnât even call me once?â
âI texted you, didnât I?â asked Vicky helplessly. âI didnât call you because I didnât want to disturb your
rest.â
Tylerâs eyes turned inky black. âOne last question. Do you still love me?â
Vicky was stunned by the sudden change of topic. She quickly fell silent. âDid he overhear my
conversation with Old Mister
Hart?â
Tyler walked over to her and looked down at Vickyâs wavering eyes.
âYou always prided yourself on only speaking the truth, right? Well, why arenât you answering now?â
âTyler, you still havenât fully recovered yet. itâs best if you go back to the hospital, or you might get an
infectionââ
Tyler grabbed Vickyâs wrist roughly and stared into her eyes. âYou donât love me anymore?â
Vicky wanted to change the topic, but when she met his gaze, she could not think of anything to say at
all. She felt like her
breath was caught in her throat.
Tylerâs grip on her wrist tightened at the lack of response. A cold glint appeared in his eyes.
âAnswer me, Vicky Shaw!â
âYou already know the answer, right?â retorted Vicky as she looked into his eyes strongly. âWhy are you
asking me when
you already know?â
Even though Tyler was prepared for the worst, he could not help but feel a shocking pain surging
through his heart when
she answered.
She did not love him; that was why she could leave without a second thought when he asked her to go
back home.
She did not love him. That was why she did not visit him at the hospital, not even once. Even if she
could not stand the
smell of the disinfectant, she could have at least cooked something for him and asked the servants to
bring it to him.
He waited every day for her to visit him, to call him, or to text him. However, she would only text him
every few days.
âWhy?â Tyler sounded like he was asking Vicky as much as himself. âWhy donât you love me?â
His eyes turned red as he gradually lost control of his emotions.
âWhy wonât you ever love me?â
