Chapter 297
To investigate, Vicky could only get out of the car and wait.
When the traffic police arrived, the muscular man started to distort the facts and acted shamelessly.
âLook, everyone! Heâs refusing to admit heâs at fault when he switched lanes at the last minute! Heâs
faking this accident! Heâs a fraud!
âI couldnât have worse luck than this. My old folks and kids are still waiting for me at home, yet Iâm here
dealing with this shameless person⦠Heâs trying to force me to jump off the building!
âEveryone here can see clearly. I know none of you will believe this ill-hearted person!â
The muscular man weighed 80 kilograms, yet he was sitting on the ground and howling like a little
woman. i
Henry was young and was never in this situation before. He was so angry that his face turned pale.
The muscular man shouted so loudly that it attracted many unsuspecting onlookers. Many of them
started to reprimand Henry.
Suddenly, Vickyâs phone rang. She looked at the called ID and her eyelid started to twitch. It was a call
from Tyler.
She looked at the noisy crowd, so she excused herself with Henry to look for a quiet place to take the
call.
âTyler?â
âWhy is your phone switched off?â Tylerâs voice was cool like the water from the stream.
Vickyâs heart raced rapidly as she looked at Henry, who got surrounded by the onlookers. She
pretended to be calm, despite not being one to be good at lying.
âWhatâ¦?â
Tyler said, âI called you around nine something just now. Why did you switch off your phone?â
She looked at the time and realized it was three in the morning in Zendonia. It was hours ago when
Tyler tried to call her.
âI forgot to charge my phone. It ran out of battery,â she said.
An answer that sounded reasonable and valid.
It looked like Tyler accepted the answer and did not seek further clarification. He asked, âWhy are you
not sleeping yet?â
She clenched her fist tightly. âI accidentally fell asleep when I was reading on the bed after dinner. That
was why I didnât charge my phone⦠Maybe I slept too early and I canât fall asleep now.â
âArgh! Why do I have such a miserable life?â The muscular man continued to make a fuss and shouted
out loud.
Tylerâs tone changed. âAre you outside?â
âNoâ¦no, Iâm not,â Vicky said.
âBut why did I hear someone elseâs voice?â Tyler asked.
âSince I canât sleep, I decided to watch TV,â Vicky lied.
Tyler seemed to accept the explanation and his tone became soft. âI see.â
Vicky was not sure if Tyler had discovered she had left Zendonia. In fact, it did not matter anymore to
Vicky. Nevertheless, she was still hoping Tyler would find out much later so she would have more time
to prepare to face his fury.
Vicky changed the subject. âWhy arenâtâ¦you sleeping, too? Itâs very late now. Did you just finish your
work?â
Tyler was in Auran, which had a one-hour time difference from Zendonia. It should be two in the
morning for Auran, and it was late.
He answered, âI was worried about you because your phone is switched off.â
At that moment, Vicky did not know what to say.
âIf you didnât pick up this time, I was going to call Nanny Paterson.â
After a while, Vicky finally gathered her voice. âIâm fine. Donât worry about me. Rest early.â
âOkay.â Tyler did not insist on talking more. âCall me if you need anything.â
