Chapter 324
A towering man stood before the window with his back facing her direction, and Vickyâs breath came to
a sudden halt when she saw him.
It had only been a little over a week since she last saw him, yet it felt like a lifetime had passed.
The man slowly turned around at the sound of her footsteps.
He was as cold and distant as always, and his dark, brooding eyes were like the ocean that could
drown anything who stared into them.
He studied her intently with an expression, and Vicky found herself stiffening.
The look in his eyes darkened as he asked, âItâs only been a week, and youâve already forgotten about
me?â
Vicky felt a lump in her throat, and it took every last strand of strength within her to speak. âW-Why are
you here?â
âYou donât want me here?â
âItâs not that, butâ¦â
Tyler seemed to know what she was trying to say. âYou donât think that Iâm coming to rescue you, do
you?â
âYou said so yourself.â
âWhen did I say that?â Tyler shot her a half-smile.
Vicky was taken aback at first, but she soon recalled that Tyler did not mention anything about not
coming to her rescue during the phone call from the day before.
Tyler simply admitted to being aware of the kidnap, and she assumed that he was not going to come
for her.
The sunlight shone upon his perfect features, and he looked as though he was glowing. For a moment,
he almost looked like a god to her.
Her heart, which had gone numb from disappointment and despair, started beating again. She could
even hear her heart racing.
âWhy?â she muttered through quivering lips.
âWhy give me hope when Iâve given up?â she thought to herself.
Tyler stared into her eyes and drawled, âBecause you are my wife.â
Tears welled in her eyes. âDidnât you divorce me?â
âWho told you that?â
Her eyes widened. âWas⦠Was he lying to me?â
âHe didnât lie to you.â Tyler remained expressionless. âI lied to him.â
âWhat?â
âOn the second day after you went missing, I started sending my men to look for you, and they reported
that you went missing in Lovian. There arenât many surveillance cameras on the streets around here,
so it was challenging to find you.â Tylerâs voice was smooth and silvery as he continued, âNot long after,
I received a call from a stranger who claimed to know where you were, but he hid his number and
location. He was using a voice changer and wouldnât provide me with any information about you, so I
didnât buy it.â
Tyler simply had too many enemies, and he would have been dead already if he believed every phone
call he received from strangers.
Vicky nodded. âWhat about all the news about you after that?â âI cant tell if my enemy captured you, so
I created those scandals to make them think that I donât care about you anymore. If they were my
enemy, theyâd panic once they saw the news and might do something reckless.â
