Chapter 359
âNo.â Vicky sniffled and added, âIâve probably caught a cold.â âTake care of yourself.â
Another tear dropped at Tylerâs words. âYeah. You too.â Worried that she might not be able to contain
her emotions, she said, âIâm about to go downstairs to eat, so letâs end the call hereâ¦â
Before she could hang up, Tyler called out to her, âVicky.â
âYes? What is it?â
âAre you really alright?â
âOf course,â she said in the most cheerful manner she could manage. âIâm just tormented by a
nightmare and havenât been able to sleep⦠Donât worry about me. Iâll get better soon.â
âOkay.â
After breakfast, Vicky collected herself and went to visit Jennifer in the hospital.
She felt dazed and did not know what she was thinking or what she should do.
Everything was spinning out of control, and she had not expected the masked man to be mad enough
to break into her house.
Even if Tyler had been understanding, he would never tolerate her if he was told that she had been with
someone else, and she would struggle to accept it as well if she was in his shoes.
Too caught up in her thoughts, Vicky accidentally bumped into a passerby.
âIâm sorryâ¦â Vicky apologized.
âVicky,â a melodious, soothing voice called out to her. âAre you ill?â
She looked up and saw a devilishly handsome face, his almond-shaped eyes locking onto hers.
âHarvey Sparksâ¦â
Ever since Harveyâs true identity was exposed, it had been a long time since Vicky saw or contacted
him.
He studied the pale look on her face and frowned. âIs Tyler hurting you again?â
She shook her head. âNo.â
âYou look horrible.â
âI havenât been sleeping well.â
âWhy are you at the hospital, Vicky? Are you feeling ill?â
Harvey could tell that Vicky had lost a lot of weight.
âNo,â she said emotionlessly. âJust visiting a friend here.â
âVickyâ¦â
Vicky did not want to continue the conversation and thus said, âI should get going.â
Before he had the chance to respond, Vicky walked around him and left.
Jennifer was young and healthy, so she could take care of herself.
Moreover, the doctors informed them that she could be discharged after a week.
Vicky was in such bad shape that she could easily be mistaken as the one who was sick. She
managed to stay for a while to chat with Jennifer before leaving.
She had to find a way to survive the night.
The thought that she would be stuck in the same nightmare for the following three months, she felt
helpless and devastated.
Vicky did not know what else she was supposed to do.
