Chapter 434
Once they were in the apartment, Jackie contacted a doctor right away.
10 minutes later, a man in his thirties who wore a pair of frameless glasses stepped in with a briefcase
in his hand.
The man seemed confused. âHarvey has always been swift⦠How did he get shot?â
Jackie glanced at Vicky, and so did the man. Instantly, he froze. âThis is Miss Shawâ¦â
âMiss Vicky Shaw,â Jackie said.
Vicky noticed something odd about the doctor and Jackie but did not question them. Instead, she
greeted the doctor politely. âHello. Iâm Vicky Shaw.â
The man smiled at her. âHello, Miss Shaw. My name is Alexander Raven.â
âDo you know me, Doctor Raven?â she asked.
Alexander froze.
âMiss Shaw, Doctor Raven here is bad at memorizing faces and canât tell people who look alike apart,â
Jackie said. Seeing that Vicky wanted to continue the subject, he immediately urged, âAlexander,
thereâs no time to waste. Mister Sparks is waiting for you to remove the bullet in him.â
âSure.â Alexander took one last glance at Vicky and said, âI will go check on him.â
Harvey had been shot in the arm, so the extraction went smoothly.
After the surgery, Alexander strolled out of the room and said to Jackie,â Iâve already taken the bullet
out. Try your best to keep the wound away from water, and he needs to restâ¦â
Alexander seemed to know that it was unrealistic to ask Harvey to rest for too long and said, âJust stay
still for at least a week.â
Jackie nodded. âHow is Mister Sparks right now?â
âHe is unconscious. Itâs normal for people to come down with a fever when theyâre shot, so someone
has to remain by his side for the first three nights, â Alexander said. âIâll get him some medicine. Make
sure you feed it to him on time every day. Heâll recover faster that way.â
âWaterâ¦â Harvey mumbled.
Soon, a glass of cool water was fed through his lips. Once the water was finished, he heard the soft,
gentle voice of a woman saying, âDo you need more?â
Harvey slowly regained consciousness and saw a beautiful face before his eyes. He narrowed his eyes
and muttered, âVickyâ¦â
Vicky tested his temperature and was relieved. âYour fever has finally come down. Hang on. Iâm going
to get Mister Raven.â
Vicky hurried out of the room. Shortly after, Alexander and Jackie walked in.
Alexander ran a routine check on Harvey and smiled. âYour fever has indeed come down. Youâre past
the critical phase now. All thatâs left is for you to rest.â
Vicky noticed that Jackie needed to say something to Harvey and said, âIâll go prepare some soup.â
Once she left, Alexander said, âHarvey, your fever burnt through a day and a night. Miss Shaw has
been the one caring for you.â
Harvey was unconscious, and Jackie needed to take care of the follow-up while Alexander needed to
check Harvey constantly to adjust his dosage of medicine, so the duty of taking care of Harvey fell
upon Vicky.
The three had a silent agreement on what they were supposed to do, and Harvey was slightly taken by
shock.
Alexander studied Harvey and said, âHarvey, she seems nice. Why did you give up on her and choose
that woman all those years ago? That woman never loved you-â
âAlexander.â Harvey interrupted him. âThatâs in the past.â
âIn the past?â Alexander sneered. âYouâve done quite a lot of stupid things forthat woman back then.
Now that youâve finally gotten out of prison, you went to Tyler Hartâs territory and abducted his wife. Are
you sure you arenât doing this for that woman? I told you before. If youâre willing to go that far for that
woman, you shouldâve just settled down with Vicky, but what did you do?â
