Vicky, too, thought that it was too much of a coincidence, and from the way Tyler presented it, it did
sound as though she was pulling the strings.
âItâs really just a coincidence⦠Iâll apply for a new passport tomorrow. Once itâs done, we can come
back to file for divorce, okay?â she asked hoarsely.
âAre you sure thatâs just going to go smoothly?â Tyler asked pointedly.
â⦠What are you implying?â
âYour identity card, passport, marriage certificate, and divorce agreement are all stolen, and itâll take at
least a month to get new copies of everything. â
Realizing dawned on her that the procedures for applying for new documents would be complicated,
and Tyler suspected her of stalling.
At the moment, Vicky had no evidence to prove her innocence and could only say, âBelieve it or not, itâs
just a coincidence.â
He glanced at his watch and said, âVicky Shaw, youâve wasted my entire afternoon.â
âIâm sorry.â
âYour apology isnât worth anything.â
She bowed her head. âI will get a new passport first and keep trying to find the person who stole my
bag⦠Iâm sorry for wasting your time. I wonât do it again.â
He did not respond and studied her with his dark eyes. After a brief pause, Tyler said, âI can give you
time.â
âReally?â Vicky questioned in disbelief.
He did not answer her question directly and said, âBut you are still my wife, so I donât wish to be the
laughingstock of the city if youâre seen with another man.â i
She relaxed. âSure! I wonât be with another man until our divorce is finalized.â
He looked at her and said, âI have work after this, so I wonât be able to drive you home.â
She nodded. âOkay.â
As he walked away, she recalled something and called out, âHang on.â
He turned around to look at her impatiently. âWhat?â
âI lost my bag with my phone and wallet in itâ¦â She said, âCan I borrow some money to go home by
taxi?â
He stared at her for a few moments before pulling out a twenty-dollar note from his wallet.
They were located quite far from the mansion, and 20 dollars was barely enough for Vicky to return
home, so it would be impossible for her to get anywhere else.
âUm⦠Can I have another twenty?â
âYou canât,â he said expressionlessly.
To think that the almighty CEO of the Hart Corporation who once gave me a black card can be this
stingyâ¦â Vicky thought. Not daring to protect, she accepted the note and returned home.
When Tyler returned to his office, someone knocked on the door and Harry walked in with a womanâs
bag.
âMister Hart, this is Missus Hartâs bagâ¦â
âAlright,â Tyler said. âYou may leave.â Harry set the bag on the desk and stepped out of the room.
