Chapter 681
Vicky nodded. âHow did you know?â âYou love spicy food, and Iâve never seen you ask for them to
exclude parsley specifically⦠This takeaway is obviously not for you.â Conflicted emotions filled Alexâs
eyes. âYouâd always be on your phone whenever itâs lunchtime for the past two days, asking the doctor
if your friend is eating properly, or asking your friend what he feels like eating.â
Unable to suppress it any longer, Alex finally asked the question on his mind for the past two days.
âVicky, this friend of yours is a man that youâre quite close with, right?â
Alex had never been a perceptive man, and the fact that he was asking about it showed just how
obvious Vickyâs behavior was.
âI told you that this friend of mine helped me out a lot, and the money he gave me surpasses market
value for the service I provide, so I canât just leave him there to rotâ¦
Besides, he doesnât know how to take care of himself, and if I donât keep a close eye on him, he might
get sick again, so I have to pay attention.â
She paused and added, âThe sooner he gets better, the sooner I can get back to my part-time jobs.â
Alex did not say anything and simply studied Vicky oddly.
Vicky felt chills from the way Alex looked at her and asked,â Alex, why are you looking at me like that?â
The emotions in his eyes deepened. âVicky, all I asked was one simple question, so why are you telling
me all that?â
Vicky was rendered speechless.
Alex sighed with resignation. âAlright, just go. You donât have to keep me company tomorrow.â
âAre you mad at me, Alex?â
He shook his head. âI know that youâre a soft-hearted person, so I wonât be mad at you. I just think if
youâre so worried about that person, you wonât be able to have fun even if youâre here with me. There
are priorities to things, and we can hang out whenever we want. Iâll come by again when youâre free.â
Vicky was touched by his thoughtfulness. âThank you, Alex.â
âFriends donât have to thank each other,â replied Alex casually.
After packing the food, the two stepped out of the restaurant.
âIâll send you back,â Alex offered.
âSure.â
When the car arrived and stopped in front of the hospital, the two stepped out.
âAlex, would you like to come and see my friend?â Vicky asked.
Alex kept his eyes trained on her. âMaybe next time.â
Since Tyler had yet to recover and was not good with socializing, Vicky did not insist on the matter.
âAlright. If we ever have the chance, Iâll introduce you guys to each other.â
âThere will be a chance,â Alex said.
Confused, she asked, âOh? What makes you so sure?â
He took two steps forward and wrapped his arms around her before whispering into her ear bitterly, âBe
happy, Vicky.â
Vicky nodded and returned his embrace. âYou too, Alex.â
Alex let her go and said, âAlright, go up. Your friend needs someone to take care of him.â
âOkay. Iâll get going now, then.â
Vicky turned and headed into the hospital, while Alex stood still to watch as her figure disappeared
from her sight.
None of them noticed the handsome man observing them from a balcony on the third floor.
