Vicky was still trying to process Tylerâs words when a contemptuous look appeared on his face.
âVicky, do you really consider yourself a fallen angel or something? Do you think that I canât survive
without you?â he sneered.
She froze at the realization that Tyler had toyed with her once again.
Since she was rendered speechless, he took the opportunity to grab her by the wrist and pulled her
toward his car. âLetâs go for lunch.â
She had lost any appetite she might have had after the infuriating conversation with him, so she tried
her best to withdraw her wrist from his hold. âIâm not going. Go have lunch with Gloria. Sheâll be more
than happy to oblige.â
âWhat else are you plotting to do?â He shot her a sharp look. âGloria has just undergone a surgery. She
canât put up with your taunting, so just come with me to lunch.â
âIâm not trying to do anything or taunt her!â
Tyler seemed to be certain that Vicky had plotted to lure him away while Gloria was in surgery and was
trying to harm Gloria at the moment, so he refused to let her go.
âThatâs enough,â he warned coldly. âThereâs a limit to my patience.â
âIâm not messing with you.â Vicky was furious that she was wrongfully accused. âI didnât try to lure you
away. I wasââ
She wanted to explain herself, but the man in front of her was far too good at turning the tables against
her, so she lost all trust in him. She wanted to trust him, but she knew that she could not.
Vicky became suspicious again. âAre you sure Cece told you that?â
âYou can call your assistant to ask her about it.â
âMy phone ran out of battery.â
He sneered and tossed her his phone.
She shot him a glare and made a call to Cece.
Cece clearly did not have Tylerâs phone number saved to her contact list and answered the phone with
a confused tone, âHello? Who is this?â
âCece, itâs me.â
âVicky?!â Cece was surprised to hear Vickyâs voice. âVicky, are you okay?â
âIâm fine. My phone ran out of battery.â
âOh, so thatâs what happened⦠Thank godâ¦â
âWere you the one who told Tyler that I was in a car accident?â Vicky asked.
Cece paused for a moment. âYeah. I heard a loud noise on your end, then your phone went dead. I
thought you were in a car accident or got kidnappedâ¦â
Vicky listened to Cece and glanced at Tyler. âCece, are you certain that you said that to Tyler?â
Cece did not get Vickyâs hint and felt confused. âYeah, Vicky⦠Whatâs wrong?â
Vicky remained quiet for a few moments before saying, âCece, cough if you donât feel free to speak in
your own words.â
ââ¦â Cece glanced at Harry, who was sitting next to her with an odd look on his face, before whispering,
âVicky, I did say those things, and Iâm not being threatened.â
Cece explained everything from her perspective.
âI seeâ¦â Vicky muttered. âIâm sorry for worrying you.â
âIâm fine. As long as youâre alright.â
After a few words, Vicky hung up and wanted to hand Tyler back his phone, only to find herself staring
into Tylerâs lustrous eyes.
