âYou two happened to be in the same hospital as Gloria, and you happened to schedule your follow-up
body check on the same exact day as her surgery. You were on the phone with Cece and your phone
happened to run out of battery when you ran into an accident, then your assistant happened to run into
my assistantâ¦â He lowered his gaze at Vicky. âWhat a series of coincidences.â
Vicky gaped at Tyler and was instantly rendered speechless.
She worked in the service industry and used to consider herself rather eloquent.
The man before her would not breathe a single word when he did not want to, but as soon as he spoke,
he would make sure she would not be able to argue.
Before she could organize her own speech, Tyler shoved her back into the car.
â¦
Vicky was kept under the watchful eyes of Tyler, and whenever she would head outside, he would
assume that she intended to taunt Gloria behind his back.
Vickyâs nature of work was more flexible and she often worked from work, but when she was swarmed
by work, she would occasionally have to travel to certain places to take measurements of her
customers.
In recent days, Tyler had been treating her like a prisoner.
He told her that the week after Gloriaâs surgery was crucial for recovery, so he could not afford to let
Vicky run wild as she might harm Gloria again. Hence, he insisted that she followed him to work and
remained by his side at all times.
Since Gloria was indeed injured because of her and she did not have much work on hand at the
moment, she agreed.
After spending three days by Tylerâs side, she received a call from Cece.
âVicky, weâve received an order from a big client. She seems to be in a hurry and wants us to take her
measurements today⦠Sheâs located in one of the most famous residential districts here in Stoneford
City, so Iâm worried that I might not be enough.â
Vicky did not hesitate and said, âSure. Iâll drop by the studio later.â
After the call, Vicky washed up and went downstairs to find Tyler reading a finance magazine in the
dining room.
He overheard her footsteps and did not bother looking up. âHurry up and have your breakfast. I have a
meeting later.â
She stared at his face and said, âTyler, I have work today, so Iâm afraidâ¦â
âTake your laptop to Hart Corporation,â he said casually.
Indeed, Vicky had been carrying her laptop with her whenever there was a need for her to make
amendments to her designs.
âThereâs a big client who requested a measuring session today. Cece canât handle it on her own, so I
have to go over.â
Tyler paused and lifted his cold, prying gaze. âHave you and your assistant gotten addicted to acting?â
âIâm not acting. I donât want to do anything to Gloria. I really do have work to attend to⦠Tyler, Iâve
never hurt Gloria on purpose.â
Tyler closed the magazine expressionlessly. âBack when I looked for Gloria, you impersonated her.
Was that not considered hurting her? You knew that I was pursuing her, yet you found your way to my
bed. Was that not considered hurting her? You worked with your childhood friend to kidnap Gloria some
time ago. Was that not considered hurting her? Also, were you not hurting her when you mock her for
being a homewrecker and injuring her hand?â
From the way Tyler phrased everything, it sounded as though Vicky was the villain of the story.
She did not remember what she had done in the past.
