âAria?â Vicky thought.
She had no memories of this name and instinctively turned to look at Tyler.
The look in Tylerâs eyes darkened, and she could feel her blood running cold at the sight.
âDonât blame your parents, Tyler. They only agreed to the engagement to save your life,â Old Mister
Hart said seriously. âYet you broke the promise as soon as the poison in you was removed and married
another woman. Who do you take the Everlys for? If you donât give them a proper explanation, they
wonât let this slide.â
âExplanation?â A contemptuous look appeared on Tylerâs face as he wrapped his arm around Vickyâs
waist and said, âThis is my explanation.â
Old Mister Hart had hinted that Tyler only married Vicky to upset his family, and Vicky did not believe
him then. However, after seeing the contempt and mockery on Tylerâs face, she started to believe what
Old Mister Hart said.
âAfter all the pain youâve caused Tyler, do you really think that heâd marry you for love?â Old Mister
Hartâs words echoed in her mind.
Her heart sank as she stood quietly to listen to their conversation.
âTyler, Aria isnât born ugly⦠The birthmark on her face has been removed, and she now looks even
prettier than Lincolnâs fiance.â Old Mister Hart glanced at Vicky pointedly. âHer beauty even rivals
Vickyâs looks.â
Tyler remained unwavering and said, âAre you done?â
Old Mister Hart shifted his attention from Tyler to Vicky. âVicky, has Tyler told you that he had a fiance
once after he broke up with you?â
Vicky had recovered 90 percent of her memories with the only exception of why she broke up with
Tyler. She could recall why she married Tyler and what happened after her car accident, but she did not
remember any mention of Tylerâs ex-fiance.
Since she was engaged to Harvey after they broke up, Tyler was certainly entitled to do the same, but
Vicky was still annoyed to hear about it from Old Mister Hart.
She remained quiet for a few moments and said, âOld Mister Hart, Iâve lost my memories, so I donât
remember anything.â
Old Mister Hart smiled. âTyler, I think itâs best for you to tell Vicky about this, or itâll be horrible for Vicky
to not know whatâs going on when Aria gets here.â
Tylerâs expression darkened and he wrapped his arm around her wrist to leave, but Vicky stood her
ground.
He lowered his gaze at her, and Vicky looked back at him quietly. âOld Mister Hart is right,â she said.
âCan you tell me about Miss Everly?â
He narrowed his eyes and said, âYou donât need to know.â With that, he grabbed her arm and dragged
her away.
Old Mister Hart did not stop them and simply watched as the two left.
â¦
A car raced on the road and when they arrived home, Tyler and Vicky went into the bedroom.
âWhat did he say to you?â he asked.
