Chapter 966
Just as Vicky was about to fall, a long arm reached over to grab her, and she fell into a warm embrace.
An alluring fragrance filled her nose and she fell into a dazed state.
Aurora spoke up, âMiss Shaw, you were just claiming that you werenât waiting for Tyler, and now youâre
falling into his arms on purpose? Whatâs the meaning of this?â
Vicky snapped out of it and realized that she had fallen into Tylerâs arms.
She hastily shoved him away and backed away to calm herself. âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to.â
Aurora never meant for this to happen and only felt that Vicky was being pretentious by using the fall as
an opportunity. âYour way of capturing menâs attention sure is special, Miss Shaw,â Aurora said
sarcastically.
Vicky wanted to argue but knew that her existence itself would be considered wrong in the eyes of
those who despised her. Tired of explaining herself, Vicky said, âWhy arenât you leaving, then? Are you
waiting here for another one of my accidents?â
Auroraâs expression froze, and she instinctively held onto Tylerâs arm. âTyler, itâs getting late. Letâs go.â
Tyler glanced at her and hummed in response.
The two quickly disappeared from Vickyâs view.
Apart from the brief moment he helped her earlier, Tyler did not even cast a single glance at her way,
treating her with indifference as if she were a stranger. Vicky felt a hint of pain in her heart.
Just then, the man who had finished his phone call returned.
He looked around and asked, âVicky, where are Cece and Jennifer?â
âThey had something to attend to, so they went back earlier.â
The man fixed his gaze on Vickyâs expression. âIs something wrong? You donât look well.â
âItâs nothing. Itâs probably just a bit cold.â
Upon hearing Vickyâs words, a glimmer appeared in the manâs eyes, and he took off his suit jacket.
âThere was an issue at the company. Sorry to have kept you waiting. Cover yourself with this for now,
so you donât catch a cold.â
Vicky did not actually feel cold and was only using it as an excuse, so she quickly said, âThank you, but
itâs not necessaryâ¦â
Before she could finish, the man had already draped the jacket over her shoulders.
Vicky was slightly taken aback as she looked into the manâs eyes, filled with a sense of astonishment.
The man noticed Vickyâs surprise and asked with a smile,â Whatâs wrong? Are you surprised that I lent
you my jacket?â
Vicky thought for a moment and replied honestly, âThatâs not it. I just⦠Sir, you donât seem like the
assertive type.â
He had always respected her, making their interactions effortless. Vicky felt that the man before her
was the kind of person who would even ask for permission before kissing someone.
The man smiled and said, âIs it considered assertive to lend you a jacket?â
âThatâs not what I meant, butâ¦â
âI know what youâre trying to say.â The man looked at her with his handsome and gentle face, his smile
was as gentle as a spring breeze. âHowever, a man should be decisive when necessary. Youâre
obviously feeling cold, and if I simply followed your wishes and you end up falling sick, that would be
my fault.â
The man spoke with great tact, never making Vicky feel oppressed or annoyed. Besides, it was just a
jacket, so there was no need to argue about it further.
âThank you,â Vicky said, âIâll return it to you tomorrow after itâs cleaned.â
The man nodded and said, âLetâs go. Iâll send you home.â
The night was serene, and the scenery along the road flew by in front of Vickyâs eyes.
âVicky,â the man spoke up suddenly.
Vicky turned to look at him. âYes?â
He asked, âAre you really not planning to seek revenge against Tyler for how he treated you?â
Vicky remained silent for a moment before answering,â When will vengeance end if I stir things up
again? Besides, I owe him just as much. With this, everything is now settled. Itâs not a bad thing.â
