Benny woke up around four am. His body couldn't fall back to sleep.
Benny turned his tablet on, he's watched Teenage mutant ninja turtles multiple times. He uses the show or movie adaptations for background noise to drift off to sleep for nights like this. The theme song for the tv adaptation was the last thing heard before Bennys hazel eyes closed.
Olivia was up by six am she made coffee for her and Layla. Benny tried coffee once and it was the only time. The theme song of the ninja turtles tv show was heard from Bennys room. His eyes were closed and his chest rose while he dreamed.
Leaving Bennys room Olivia went back to her shared room with Layla. Before leaving she saw the illustration of Randy's eyes. "Benny isn't going in today he had another sleepless night" Olivia said. "I'll stay home with him" Layla said. Olivia kissed her wife. "I'll reschedule his speech therapy, poor turtle isn't going to like this" Olivia said.
Layla knew Benny would love nothing more than skipping speech therapy. Olivia came in the bedroom with Laylas coffee. "Thanks liv" Layla said. "Don't forget to take G out" Olivia said. The front door opened and closed. Silence filled the house. Around nine Benny woke up.
He stood in front of his mom's room. Benny was in his work clothes. "Liv gave you the day off" Layla said. Benny shook his head he didn't want to ignore his schedule. The schedule was his lifeline that Liv and Layla made.
Grabbing Laylas wrist he took her into his room. Pointing at Wednesdays schedule. "You will be back on schedule tomorrow Benny, let's go walk G" Layla said. Bennys eyes held a sadness that Layla hated to see from her son. "How about on our walk we go by the bakery would that be alright" Layla said. Benny nodded Layla smiled.
Gigi led the way as Benny held his mom's hand. The bakery was a few blocks away from their home. "Beautiful day isn't it Ben" Layla said. Benny nodded he pointed to Gigi, Layla then gave him the leash.
Benny loved walking Gigi on their walks. The poodles hair was fluffy like a cotton ball. Gigis name almost was cotton ball before Olivia intervened. This memory made Benny smile. "You're thinking of the cotton ball memory again" Layla said. Benny signed with his free hand. It always pops up when I see G.
The bakery was in sight of the two. Benny grew nervous at the thought of running into Randy. The picture of his eyes came back into his mind. The blue eyes he's come to know. Blue eyes Randy's blue eyes. Hazel eyes weren't as pretty as Randy's Benny thought. The ringing of the bakery door caught Benny off guard as the smell of baked goods filled his nose.
Layla took Gigis leash from her son as she sat down at a table. Benny needed to see Randy. It was like Randy read Bennys mind when he saw him walking toward him. "Hi Benny, I just want to give you this" Randy said. A thank you card was in his hand. Benny took the note from Randy. Benny signed him a thank you. Causing Randy to smile. "There's a diner next door if you ever want to grab a bite to eat sometime" Randy said. Benny nodded he wanted to spend time with Randy.
Benny felt the warmth of Randy's hand in his. The baker kissed the back of Bennys hand. "Till next time Benny" Randy said. Bennys eyes left Randy instead going to the burning sensation of Randy's lips on his hand.
His thumb rubbed over the kiss left by Randy. A warm sensation filled Benny. It also could've been the heater of the bakery but Benny liked to have options.
Layla Gigi and Benny left around eleven am. A dog park was not far from the bakery so Layla decided to take the three of them. Layla took Gigi off the leash when they reached the inside of the dog park. Benny was fascinated by all the dogs that were there. A golden retriever was playing with Gigi. The two were chasing each other. Gigi would start the chase then the retriever would start and Gigi would run.
Gigi came back covered in dust coating her blonde fur. "We best be going before Liv sees this and has a cow" Layla said. Benny pressed the cow button on his tablet. A moo was soon heard from the device.
Returning back to the home Benny helped Layla wash Gigi. After washing Gigi she shook her body causing water to fly in Layla and Bennys faces. Benny grabbed a cloth to wipe off the water that was dripping down his face.
