Five years later
Lainey
"Ma'am I cannot let you in without your pass," The security guard tells me with his arms crossed.
"I already told you I am the performer's girlfriend," I say coldly.
He looks me up and down. "No pass, you're not getting in."
I hear the opening band start to play. "Come on, didn't you see the cover of the last People's magazine."
"I did and you look nothing like her," He responds.
I refrain from giving him the finger. I can't believe I left the damn pass in the hotel room, and now I don't have time to go back and get it.
"Look, what do I have to do for you to let me in," I groan.
"Show me a VIP, backstage pass," He snaps.
My anger snaps and I pull out my phone. "I can't wait to your face when he answers," I mumble as I scroll through my contacts.
I find Owen's contact and press call. It rings two times and then he picks up. "Lane, what's wrong?"
"This dipshit won't let me in because I forgot my backstage pass," I say.
Owen sighs, "Of course you did."
I give him my cutest smile that wins him over every time. "Can you tell him I am your girlfriend of five years?"
Owen nods and I flip my phone around so the security guard can see it. "Sorry about the confusion, but she is my girlfriend."
The guy nods and steps out of the way so I can go to the VIP section.
"Thanks, sweetie," I say once I pass the guy.
Owen smiles. "Anytime."
"Good luck," I say as I hold my hand up to make half a heart.
Owen completes the heart as he hangs up.
After I get a new pass, I search the VIP section to find my friends.
Today is Owens's biggest concert and all their friends are coming to see him play, besides the thousands of people already filling the venue.
I finally spot Trey's red hair, and I race toward their seats. "You will never guess what happened," I exclaim.
Maize glances at me with a big smile. "Huntley finally proposed."
I frown, "No, he didn't."
Trey laughs as he pours some type of nuts into his mouth. "What is he waiting for?"
I shrug. "I ask him that question every day."
"I swear to god if you touch me one more time, I will slap you across your damn face so hard you won't know what hit you," Lena yells as she takes the seat in front of us.
Caleb cringes, "Baby, I was trying to take your purse, so you don't have to carry it."
"I don't need your help," She growls.
Lena turns towards us and smiles. "Hey, how are you all doing?"
"Good," We all say quickly.
Lena places her hand on her swollen belly which looks ready to pop.
This will be Caleb's third child, and she is not one to mess with when she is pregnant.
"How's the baby doing?" Trey asks.
Before Lena answers Caleb glares at Trey while he mouths "why did you ask that?"
"I can't wait for it to come out," Lena snaps. "And after this one someone is getting snipped," She says with a glare at Caleb.
Caleb covers his face with his hand, and we all laugh. Before we say anything else the opening act finishes, and Owen comes out.
The crowd erupts as he comes out with a guitar around his neck.
I smile. He still looks the same after all these years. His hair is a little longer and he has put on more muscles, but he still looks the same, but now he sports a little scruff on his face.
"How are you all doing tonight," Owen says into the microphone.
The crowd cheers and he smiles. "Who's ready to have a good time?" The crowd yells even louder as his first song starts.
Maize stands up and claps along as Owens's voice fills the stadium.
After we both went to college, we did long distance for three years. We visited each other as much as we could and called each other every day.
I was lucky enough to graduate a year early, so I moved back home while Owen finished his last year.
During Owens's college years, he started writing more music and doing more gigs. I did my best to go to each one. He even started posting videos of his music online.
One day in his senior year, one of his videos blew up overnight. Two weeks later he had a record deal and released his first single.
And just like I knew it would his song went viral.
By the time he graduated, he was working on his first album.
Now, eight months later he is on tour performing his first-ever album. He doesn't believe it, but I am sure he's going to be nominated for at least two or three Grammys.
Trey twirls Maize around to the song and I watch with a smile. Six years ago, she had a crush on her best friend and now they are married with two kids.
They got married about three years ago and just recently adopted two kids.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry," Waylon says as he makes his way towards us.
We all wave as he takes a seat beside Caleb with his wife beside him.
Waylon met his now wife on his first day at college by dumping a box of clothes on her by accident when he was moving in. They only got married last year and they could not be happier.
Owen and I are the only ones not married. Even my brothers are married or about the be. Jeremy got married last year and Jereimah just got engaged.
I ask him all the time and his responses are always the same, "Lane, I will when you stop asking."
His mom and Sadie are watching online. Sadie can't miss school since she is in her freshman year of college and Ally hates flying.
The first thing Owen did when he started making a lot of money was pay off her house, then he bought us a home close to our parents. When I asked him why he bought us a house before we were married, he responded with, "we will be soon."

As he plays his last song I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn to see a security guard behind me. I grab my badge to show them I am meant to be up here, but he shakes his head. "Mr. Huntley wants me to bring you backstage."
I nod and follow him backstage. After Owen's concerts, I always come backstage, just never before he finishes his set.
I watch Owen play his last song from the side of the stage.
I have been to every one of his concerts since he went on tour, and it is still mesmerizing to watch the crowd as he sings. Every person in the crowd has their phone light on and is swaging to the beat of the song.
Once he finishes, I clap with the crowd.
Owen looks over at me with a smirk dancing on his lips. A smirk I have learned means he has something planned.
"Everyone, I have someone special I would like you to meet," Owen says into his microphone.
My face pale as Owen waves me on stage. Somehow my feet start moving and I find myself stopping at his side.
"Everyone, this is my lovely girlfriend, Lainey," Owen yells.
I cover the mic with my hand, as I say, "What are you doing?"
Owen places his finger on my lips and moves my hand. "This girl right here is the reason I am standing here today." His blue eyes meet mine. "She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself, and I love her with all my heart."
He pulls something out of his back pocket and my heart jolts.
Owen slowly falls to one knee. "Lainey, you will never know how much you mean to me." He smiles and the stadium falls silent. "I don't know what I would do without you in my life."
"I'm sorry it took me this long to propose, I just wanted it to be perfect."
Owen grins, "If it was up to me, I would have married you at our senior prom."
I feel tears roll down my cheeks as he continues. "So, will you, Lainey Smitt, take me, Owen Huntley, to be your husband?"
"Yes, I want to more than anything," I whisper.
Owen jumps up and kisses me in front of thousands of people, but it seems like we are back at prom kissing under the moon with no one else around.
We finally break apart and he slips the rings on my finger. I gasped, "Owen, this is beautiful."
He smiles and I shove his shoulder. "It took you long enough."
Owen laughs as he puts his arm around me. "I knew you weren't going anywhere."
I scoff as we walk off stage and into the next chapter of our life.

Owen
So, we lived happily ever after.
Not everything was perfect, but it was pretty damn close.
Lainey as usual was right, I was nominated for a Grammy, and I also won three more.
We had a small wedding and went on an epic honeymoon.
Then we enjoyed married life for a couple of years till Lainey found out she was pregnant.
Then we found out we were pregnant again a year.
And then we found out three more times in the course of five years.
After the fifth boy in a row, Lainey finally said no more, which was fine with me.
So we raised our five boys, and I wrote a couple more number won hit albums and won a few more awards.
But I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone, but Lainey by my side.
And to think if she never made that stupid wish, we would have never ended up together.
Damn, the world works in funny ways.
