Wang Lu nodded firmly, “Lin Bro means that I should really work on my acting skills.”

After Wang Lu got out of the car, Lin Yi found a spot to park and then went to Yan Ci’s office.

He found her on the phone, with half-eaten buns and soy milk beside her desk.

Seeing Lin Yi come in, Yan Ci cut the call short and got up to welcome him in.

“Have you eaten?”

“I have.” Lin Yi stretched out lazily on the sofa, “Are you busy? If you are, I can take off.”

“Just small stuff; I’ll finish it soon.” Yan Ci went to make Lin Yi a cup of coffee and placed it in front of him.

“I just took a look, and I was thinking about letting your friend’s sister try for the lead female role.”

“Huh?” Lin Yi sat up straight, “Are you joking? She’s only a sophomore in college, and you want her to play the lead? Aren’t you afraid she’ll botch the play? Stop messing around. Just give her a chance to gain some experience. Let her play the lead after she improves her acting skills.”

“It’s not as exaggerated as you think,” Yan Ci said.

“The thing is, our upcoming drama is a campus youth drama. There are plenty of actresses with enough skill, but they lack that certain feel—after all, the ones with some fame are all in their thirties. So I’m thinking of trying a different approach with these young actresses; maybe we’ll discover something surprising.”

After hearing Yan Ci out, Lin Yi thoughtfully nodded, “Okay, do it your way, but the condition is that her acting must be up to par. After all, you can’t get far with someone holding you up.”

“I understand. I’ll go check it out in a bit.”

“All right, you go on with your work. I’ve got some free time, so I might as well wander around your company.”

“Why go anywhere else? Isn’t my office fun?”

“There’s nothing in your office, I’ve seen it all in one glance. What’s fun about that?”

Yan Ci dragged her cheek with a playful smile, “Indeed, there’s nothing interesting about the office itself, but the people are more fun. Are you sure you don’t want to give it a try?”

Lin Yi had an epiphany, “If that’s the case, then I really must give it a try. These big floor-to-ceiling windows are much more interesting than my home.”

For the next two hours, the two had a quick skirmish.

Afterward, they both felt refreshed and invigorated.

Yan Ci then found a new pair of stockings, putting them on as she spoke:

“Let’s go; the audition should be about finished. Let’s go take a look.”

“I saw a long line when I came. Could it really be finished so quickly?”

“Auditions are different from job interviews. An experienced director doesn’t need to audition—just one glance and they’ll know what a person is like. It’s actually quite fast.”

On the second floor conference room of the company, all the actors who had come to audition were there.

“And remember, I will definitely get this role, so you won’t get to gloat in the end.”

“Confidence is good, but overconfidence is arrogance,” Dong Yao said.

“You’ve only been studying acting for a year and have no prior acting experience. What makes you think you can compete with me?” Dong Yao crossed her arms in front of her chest with a look of contempt,

“If Zhao Yong hadn’t taken an interest in you last night, the female third lead would have been mine by default, and it wouldn’t have been your turn.”

“That’s right. Do you really think your acting skills can trounce us? Dream on,” Chen Yufei chimed in.
