Wyatt’s POV

Ever since I returned from the Topas moon pack, we have been working tirelessly to control the attacks we are facing.

‘We need to find them before they start aiming at other packs as well,’ I said.

‘They have no chance to win against us, we have the numbers, wealth, and weapons,’ Alpha Toha said.

‘Well, I’m sure they want it,’

The dark wolves are growing in number and causing more trouble lately. We discussed further, and just as we concluded the meaning, the door opened and Rachel walked in. The three Alphas stood up to leave. Only Aspen and Jett stayed behind with Rachel and I.

Rachel smiled softly at me and kissed Jett’s cheek. The two were close friends and he had saved her life many times, no wonder he didn’t approve that I brought Adira here. Adira, Adira my fated mate. I wouldn’t bring her here without ending whatever shit there is with Rachael and to do that, the parliament needs to get involved first. I fucked up. Royally.

‘Hey, Love,’ She called, snapping me away from my thoughts. Rachel has been wanting us to meet since I came but I kept dodging her. I didn’t even have the balls to look her in the eyes and tell her that I found my mate and she has to willingly leave. Which she wouldn’t of course because just like any other wolf, she was drawn to power and claimed to love me dearly.

‘Are you avoiding me? You’ve been acting weird since you came back,’ she asked. I only stared at her with a poker face. Rachael was a woman who lured men to her, both intentionally and unintentionally, she possed feminine features that many men desired and she was a woman of class.

‘I’ve been busy,’ I answered finally. The look she gave me told me that she didn’t believe me at all.

‘Alright. I am here to inform you that I’ve picked the date for my inauguration ceremony next month and will be broadcasted live on Tv,’

‘No!’

‘No?’ She asked confused. I touched my temple, I need to tell her about Adira, ‘ King Wyatt, you already presented me as your Luna and Queen in front of the parliament last year, all that is left is to present me to the people officially,’ She smiled, touching her mark. It disgusted me.

‘We have to take care of the problems we are dealing with first before we can discuss the future, Rachel,’ I told her, her gaze roved to Aspen and Jett but my men gave nothing away. She was at a loss for words, and her fist was clenched. She was frustrated now.

‘It’s been years since you defeated the dark king, you told my family that you’ll take me as your Queen when you are ready -‘

‘Didn’t you hear what I said!’ I snapped, making her jump at my outburst. I closed my eyes, taking in a calming breath.

‘Look here Rachel, a lot has been happening and it’s not the right time,’ I tried saying calmly. I’ve been saying this for years now, It’s not the right time. She started to sniff and I wasn’t in the mood to see waterworks today.

‘Have breakfast with me tomorrow,’ She requested. I opened my mouth to reject her but she added. ‘ Please, It’s important,’ I only nodded and she left the room.

Aspen and Jett were staring at me

‘You need to decide, Alpha,’ Aspen said seriously.

‘There’s no decision, Adira is my mate and will be my Queen. I’ll tell Rachael the truth about finding my mate and hope she’ll make it easy to dissolve our partnership,’ I declared.

‘Rachel will be heartbroken,’ Sighed Jett and I nodded.

‘Azrael is back,’ Aspen said. I sighed. That’s another problem.

Adira Pov

Azriel McMillan. He looked just like his brother. He stepped forward, he was too close but I didn’t take a step back, instead, I inhaled his scent, it was alluring. something that resembled a soft scent of honey.

‘Why are you here?’ His voice got me out of my trance. Should I tell him? So far, not many know me. He smirked, and for some reason, my heart pounded.

‘You’re his mate,’

I did not say anything, instead, I turned back and walked away from him but he followed me. We entered the house together, I noticed the guards were surprised to see us. Azriel didn’t acknowledge anyone and I went past me upstairs before giving me a look I was unsure of. I frowned.

My eyes went to the digital clock, it was 8 pm and Wyatt was not back. I had a strong urge to text him but didn’t.

‘My lady, dinner is ready,’ The butler said. I nodded and went to the dining room, I was starving indeed. I sat at my usual place, waiting for Lucas to join me. This was so strange to me, sitting so formally here and waiting to be served by professional chefs. Lucas soon entered the room,

‘Hey, my love. I missed you,’

Between school and football practice, we barely spend time together. He grinned as he sat, immediately grabbing a fork and taking a bite of his food.

‘Too good,’ He moaned. Azriel came down into the room, he changed now and was wearing sweatpants and a black shirt.

‘You?’ Lucas said, frowning deeply as he stared at the man. Did they know each other?

‘Do you know him,’

‘He was at my school today, training us,’

‘I didn’t know you live here too,’ Azriel chided. Lucas scowled at him.

‘I do, and you, why are you here?’ He asked icily

‘I stay here too. This is my house… Kinda. it’s my brother’s anyway,’ He shrugged, grabbing a knife and fork as he cut his meat to eat.

The two men talked- no, bickered the whole time during dinner for something that happened during their training session. I felt Azriels’s gaze on me once or twice, his stare was intense but I pretended not to notice.

As I went to bed, I received a message from Wyatt. ‘ Hello, my treasure. It was a busy day today and I will spend the night here, see you tomorrow,’ I only sighed, hating that he texted instead of a phone call. I put my phone away and changed into my nightgown, getting ready to sleep.
