Chapter 13: Chaper Twelve!

My Player of a Best FriendWords: 10436

Adelynn’s POV

I burst out laughing, spitting my water at Mike’s face accidently. Mike’s face turned into a look of disgust as he takes a napkin and wipe off the water.

“Sorry Mike.” I apologize.

“It’s okay.” He grumbles, looking slightly annoyed.

I have been laughing the whole entire dinner because Tyler keeps talking about the stupid stuff him and his friends were doing in college or on vacations. Not to mention that he was eating like a starved animal.

Tyler was talking about one time how he was sick so he went to the doctors. His friends said that they were outside waiting for him so when he was done with everything at the doctors, he quickly climbed into the car since he was in a hurry to get back to the college to finish his papers for class.

Turns out, he got into the wrong car. Before he noticed this though, he climbed into the car yelling, “Drive already dumbasses!” thinking it was his friends. When he took in his surroundings though, he noticed that a little girl was sitting next to him. Being the stupid person Tyler is, he asked the little girl, “Where did Cole go and who are you?”

The girl’s parents just had a look of shock written all over their faces not knowing what to do since a stranger just climbed into their car like he owned it and told them to drive.

When I heard this, I imagined the look on the parent’s faces and that’s why I spit the water out.

“Adelynn, look at you. You got Mike’s shirt all wet now.” My dad said from across the table. I turned around to the side to look at Mike and his shirt was indeed wet. Hmm, I didn’t remember drinking that much water.

“It’s okay John, I’m done eating anyway. Thanks for cooking dinner by the way, it was really good. This is much better than takeout. I’ll go home to change then I’ll come back. It’s getting late though.” Mike then looked around the room with an uncertain look on his face.

“Is it okay if I come back later, after I change?”

When my dad heard this, he had a look of incredulity on his face. “Son, did you just ask that?”

Mike’s eyes darted around the room. “Yes?” He said, actually questioned.

“Oh honey,” My mom butted in. “You don’t need to ask if you can come back. You’re welcomed here anytime. You have the keys and everything. I don’t even mind if you sleep over here, that’s much better than sleeping at the house all alone. Don’t ever ask that again or else…” My mom trailed off with a thinking face on. I laughed at her face because she looked really stumped.

“Or else she’ll have no choice but to kill you.” My dad finished off for her. He then kissed my mom on the side of her face, on her temple.

“That wasn’t so hard was it?” He said to my mom. Everyone including Mike, Tyler, and I laughed at this. I smiled at my parent’s love. I wished one day, someone will love me like how my dad loves my mom, or vice versa.

“I’m too young to die!” Mike faked cried. He then let out a chuckle. “Okay, I’ll be back in twenty.” He got up from the table and I watched him walk out the front door.

“Whew, I thought he was never going to leave.” Tyler said right after the door closed behind Mike.

“I heard that!” Mike yelled from outside.

“Whoa, and he has super hearing too?” Tyler exclaimed.

“Thanks Ty! I knew I was the special one.” Mike yelled again. I could imagine him shaking his head while chuckling outside and making his way to his front door.

I slapped Tyler on his arm. “You’re really mean to Mike.”

Tyler went for a sarcastic response. “Me? Mean? Nooo. Never. How could you think that?” He had his arm on his chest with a mock hurt look.

I rolled my eyes but grabbed his hand. “C’mon, let’s go watch see what movies they have on cable.”

“Yes! T.V.!” Tyler fist pumped and jumped up and down. Okay…weird much? Haha, he’s such a kid.

“Go first, turn on the T.V.” I ordered him.

He bowed his head. “Yes master.” And then, left the room.

“Mom, do you need any help with the dishes?” I asked, offering help.

“No, it’s okay honey. Your dad will help me.” She smirked evilly at him and I laughed at this.

My dad’s response? He whined like a five year old. “Why me!? Make Addy help you!”

My mom gave my dad a look. “What kind of father are you? Now get to work and start drying the dishes!” My dad just pouted. He was a forty-three year old man but still acted like a child.

I smiled shaking my head. My mom gave me a wink. “Go and put on a movie with Tyler.”

I used Tyler’s response to answer my mom. “Yes master.” She nodded in satisfaction, acting like it’s totally normal to call your own mother master.

I walked into the living room to see Tyler sprawled on the floor. I scrunched my nose unattractively. What the hell?

Scrunching my nose is another one of my bad habits along with the slapping face thing. I don’t even realize that I do it unless someone tells me. I scrunch my nose when something doesn’t make sense or when I’m confused or something.

“Ty, what are you doing?”

His body shot up at the sound of my voice, causing his head to fly up. His knee jerked up at the same time and that resulted in a knee to the eye.

I started laughing because well, who knees their own eye? I threw my head back and clutched my stomach and laughed, all while gasping for air. When I was done, I looked back at Tyler to find him with his arms crossed.

“Hmph.”

“Sorry, it was just too funny.”

“No, you find it funny that I hurt myself?” He asked with a pout.

“Aww, you’re so cute!” I said, pinching his cheeks.

He slapped my hands away. “Now I’m going to get a bruise on my beautiful flawless face.”

“Flawless? I think not.”

“Meanie.” Tyler said looking rather grumpy.

After a few moments of silence, I screamed. “Hey!”

“What?” He asked looking around to see if I was talking to him.

“Yes, I’m talking to you and guess what?”

Silence.

“You’re supposed to say what.” I informed him.

He squinted his eyes at me, as if saying ‘really?’ In a bored tone, he replied. “What?”

I gave him an excited smile. “We can be bruise buddies!” I screamed.

“Really Addy? How old are you?”

“Seventeen!” I answered excitedly not knowing where the sudden energy that I felt came from. Maybe my food got drugged? Nah. My parents love me too much to want to drug me. Hehe.

“It was a rhetorical question.” Tyler responded.

“Oh.” I pouted.

Tyler then studied me for a few long seconds, making me feel rather uncomfortable.

“What?” I asked him.

“You really grew up Addy,” He paused to look at me and I gave him a grin, feeling proud that someone thinks that I’m no longer a child.

He continued, “You’ve grown to be a sexy woman.” Tyler gave me his trademark smirk and a blush erupted on my cheeks.

“S-shut up.” I told him, totally not proud of myself for stuttering.

“Haha, but it’s true.”

I tried to look anywhere but him because well, I’m not used to anyone calling me that. “Okay…”

“Addy, you’re so cute. So shy.” He said. There were a few moments of uncomfortable silence. I don’t know about Tyler but it was uncomfortable for me.

“But Addy,” Tyler said in a soft voice, interrupting the silence.

“Yeah?” I whispered, having no idea why.

“I know you like Mike.” The sound of my heart pounding was all I could hear in my ears. My eyes widened in shock.

“What? How?” I asked.

“Because, Mike has super hearing powers and I have mind reading powers. He’s not the only special one.”

“No, really Tyler. Is it that obvious?”

He thought for a moment. “Yes and no. Obvious to me since I’ve known you guys for so long but outsiders, they’ll just think that you guys are best friends.”

At this, I let out a sigh of relief.

I yawned. “Let’s talk about this later, Mike could come back any second and I don’t want him overhearing this. How embarrassing would that be? So just put on a movie.”

Tyler nodded and chose to watch “Up.” Fantastic movie by the way, I watched it with Mike about maybe five times. I cried every time I watched it because the old man was all alone when his wife died. So sad.

Tyler had his back against the couch and pulled me in between him so my back was resting against his chest. He had his arms around me and I was comfortable. Don’t jump to conclusions though. My heart beat didn’t speed up nor did a blush appear on my face. I was just comfortable in the position that I was in. I leaned my head back on his chest feeling myself drifting off to sleep even though the movie just started.

So here's chapter twelve. I know it's short and I'm sorry. I'm working on the next chapter and hopefully, it might be up earlier. Might, so no promises. Not a lot happened in this chapter and I was going to combine this with the next chapter to make it longer but then I didn't want you guys to wait too long. Haha, this long author's note probably tricked you guys into thinking that this was a longer chapter.

Oh my goshh. Summer vacation is almost here! Hehe, I'm so excited. There's a high possibility that I'm going to work, well volunteer with my friends. So excited. Squeall. Just to let you know, I squeal when I get really excited or happy. I'm totally normal. Anyway, I'm going to be interviewed tomorrow so I hope it goes well. I'm scared that I'm going to be shy and nervous then mess up or something but like presenting a project, once I get used to something, I'm normal. So karen, don't freak out. Wish me luck? Why thank you.♥

I wrote a short story called, "Never for Granted." and it would mean a lot to me if you check it out. It's different from what I usually write and it's okay if you don't read it. It's only a few pages long so it doesn't have chapters. Also, if you would like, check out my other book, "Falling for You." That was my first story but this story seems to be more popular since people seem to take a liking towards player stories. "Falling for You" is like a falling in love with your best friend story. Check it out? Omg, I feel like an advertiser. Hehe ;) I'm back to talking a lot again. If you noticed, I haven't talked a lot in the recent chapters but I'm going to go now. Byee♥ -karen xx
