"Thank you, Darcy. That was great."
Darcy smiled and closed her laptop, slipping it into her bag. "Do you know when I'll get my final mark?" She asked, referring to her year-long dissertation.
"I'm afraid you'll receive it with the rest of your exam results, so around mid-July." Her project supervisor smiled apologetically.
"That's fine. Thank you." She smiled and slipped out of the room with a final goodbye.
Just as promised, he was waiting outside for her, looking as handsome as ever. When he spotted her, he got out of his car and met her halfway, pulling her into his arms and pressing a hot kiss against her awaiting lips, his tongue entwining itself with hers; dominating and claiming what's his.
He asked as he pulled away, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ears. "How did it go in there?"
"Good. I think she liked it."
"That's great. You ready to head back to the hotel?"
Darcy nodded and turned around in his arms to stare up at the huge, beautiful building which had been almost like a second home to her for the past 4 years. "I'm really going to miss this place."
"Me too." He agreed and rested his chin on top of her head.
"Why would you miss this place?" She asked with a teasing smile on her face. Surely he didn't miss being a janitor.
"It's the reason I met you."
Her breath faltered at his admission.
Darcy couldn't help but grin when she thought back to the memory of how they had met. Her as a busy student and him as a stand-in janitor for his friend, their worlds literally colliding.
He was right. If it wasn't for university, they probably would never have met.
"It is, isn't it?" She hummed aloud, a sudden newfound appreciation dawning on her.
The drive from her university to the hotel took about 20 minutes â it would have been 10 if it weren't for the busy London traffic.
"How many exams do you have?"
"3." She groaned and closed her eyes, propelling herself back on the bed, covering her face with her hands. Revising always started out fine but she always got very bored of it towards the end, but there was still a week left before her first exam so stopping now would just be plain masochism.
"Anything I can help with?" He asked thoughtfully even though he knew very little about computers other than using them for general tasks, and even less about the science behind them.
She created a gap by spreading her fingers and peaked through it, unable to control the smile on her face. "You know anything about computer forensics or distributed ledgers?"
"No, but I can quiz you." He picked up her flashcards from the top of her pile of notes, eying them warily. "Geez, I thought computer science would involve more computers, you know?" He mumbled to himself as he sifted through her notes, the pages swimming with words and long sentences; notes she had taken during her lectures as well as some independent study.
Darcy chuckled and sat up on the bed. "I'm going to hold you to that."
Walking over to the other side of the bed to get closer to her, Thelonious dropped the flashcards on the bed â they were bound together with a rubber band otherwise they would have dispersed and made a huge mess â and cupped her face in his hands, tilting her face up.
"You need to revise." He tried to reason, whispering as he leaned down and placed a soft peck to her eager, awaiting mouth.
"And you need to get back to work." Her arms trailed up his muscular chest and looped around his neck, pulling him closer to her in hopes to break through his resolve. "I've domineered too much of your attention today already."
He groaned into her mouth and sucked on her tongue lightly before massaging it expertly with his, his mouth slanting over hers to deepen the kiss. "I won't be too long."
She threw a pen at him as he pulled away from her. "Don't make promises you can't keep."
"If I'm gone too long, I'll let you have your wicked way with me tonight." He smiled wickedly.
"I'm going to hold you to that too." She grinned and watched him leave.
Once the door closed, she sighed and shifted on the bed, reaching for her laptop so she could start working through some exercises.
She wasn't sure when, but she must have fallen asleep for when she woke, her face was pressed against some papers. Sitting up, she wiped away the drool from the side of her mouth and yawned.
"You're awake." Thelonious spoke in hushed tones as he walked into the room holding a tray. "You done revising for the night?"
"I don't think I can do much more tonight." Darcy nodded; her voice groggier than expected.
"Good." He grinned. "It'll be a date then."
"A date?" She voiced aloud, surprised but not against the idea.
"A dinner in bed and movie kind of date."
When she visibly perked up at the thought of food, he chuckled. "What's on the menu?"
"Other than me?" He teased.
Darcy rolled her eyes but couldn't control her smile. "You're the dessert, but I'm more interested in the main course right now."
He placed the tray on the bed. "Vixen, I'll let you eat me for starter, main and dessert."
The sensual words rolled off his tongue so effortlessly that she had to remind herself to breathe. If she were to start randomly chocking because she forgot to breathe, it would be so embarrassing and impossible to explain. No doubt, it would stroke his already large ego.
Not that she minded stroking him.
A sly smile slid onto her face at the thought.
"What's got you smiling like that?" He quirked a questioning brow, able to make an educated guess of the direction of her thoughts.
"You." She mouthed truthfully, confirming his guess.
"You can't make me patiently wait for dessert with you talking and looking at me like that." Thelonious groaned and picked up some of her notes, helping her tidy up. "You need to behave." He chastised her playfully.
"Or what? You going to punish me?"
Thelonious chuckled and placed her notes as well as her laptop on his desk before returning to the bed and getting in under the covers next to her.
"What are we having and what are we watching?"
"Mac made steak especially for us." He placed the tray between them and lifted the lids to reveal the juicy pieces of succulent meat which had been marinating all day.
"I love steak!"
He grinned in agreeance and handed her a knife and fork as well as a bottle of water. "Romeo said he would bring us some popcorn later."
His words were lost on her as she had already eaten a good portion of her steak. He chuckled at the sight before he reached for the remote to turn on the first The Hangover movie before tucking in himself.
By the time the movie finished, both of them were absolutely knackered after having finished their dinner and popcorn all within the first hour.
The initial plan had to watch all 3 of The Hangover movies together while having wild, passionate sex in between but after that steak, neither of them wanted nothing more than to lie in bed in each other's arms as they drifted off to a peaceful slumber.
Early morning sex would just have to do.
"What do you plan to do after university?"
Darcy nuzzled her face into his neck, one of her legs thrown over his waist and her hands resting against his chest as they lay facing each other. "I've got a few job interviews lined up after exams."
"I thought you already got an offer?"
She hummed. "I turned it down."
"Why?" He asked softly, his voice devoid of any judgement. Just curiosity and genuine interest.
"All of the other graduates they hired were all male. I wanted to be more than just a statistic."
Thelonious tightened his arm around her and pulled her closer, pressing a loving kiss against her temple. "I'm so proud of you. They don't deserve you."
A moment passed before she next spoke. "Do you think I made a mistake?" She asked quietly, the words laced with vulnerability and doubt.
He pulled away slightly and gazed down at her with as much and appreciation he could muster. "You didn't make a mistake. You're so much more than a damn statistic and it's their loss."
"You think so?" She smiled softly.
"Oh, I know so." He pressed a kiss against her forehead.
Darcy snickered, but she truly appreciated the sweet way in which he had reassured her when for a brief second, she started doubting her self-worth. "I should get you to write me a recommendation."
He chuckled. "Not sure how reliable it would be. I think I'm pretty biased." His hand travelled down the slope of her back and came to rest on her voluptuous bottom.
When she shot him an accusatory glance, he merely blinked innocently at her.
"Even better." She whispered against his shoulder, nuzzling her face into him; sleepy. "Just so we're clear, I want you to be my date to my dad and Stacey's wedding."
He chuckled and turned over onto his back, pulling her closer into him, his hand still firmly planted on her ass. "I thought that was a given."
"I know, but I wanted to ask you officially." She placed her head on his chest, closing her eyes and matching her breath to the sound of his heartbeat. "So, do you accept?"
"Only if you do it properly, like one of those promposals."
"You just want to get me on my knees." She accused him, not completely against the idea. Maybe in the morning.
His chest vibrated under her as he laughed. "Go to sleep before I hold you to that."
