Chapter 46: Chapter: 44

The Villainess Wants to Live Happily Ever AfterWords: 11244

"Countess Claymore sued the Baron Roseville for defamation and breach of contract, Your Highness"

Dion dispiritedly reported to the Prince of the newest submitted document at the Azure Imperial Court, issues among nobles couldn't be taken lightly and the lawsuit against or between nobles will be solved by the highest law institutions in the Empire, the Imperial Court.

"Baron Roseville?"

"Apparently, Baron Roseville signed a contract with Countess Claymore to marry his 4th son to her, but his son disappeared right before the wedding day that also served as the Young Master's 20th birthday"

"Urgh..."

Rex groaned as he massages his temple listening to the report, he just realized the reason why his fiancee asked Nine to deliver the letter before the young master's 20th birthday.

That groom would definitely escape to another empire to avoid his wedding, and most likely to the Crimson Empire, the hometown of his birth mother where the flame-like hair and apricot eyes are considered the common color of their citizens, making it harder to search for him in that Western continent if Nine was belated even a little.

'Why didn't I realized that she is not the type of person who did something without a reason'

Sighed inwardly, Rex regretted his past self that didn't ask Grizel anything behind the deadline for delivering her letter, he thought it was just her way to tease Nine and scare him.

If only he knows it in advance, he could prepare for the Imperial Court beforehand.

"Our Imperial Court uphold fairness, when the requirements are completed, we have no choice but to hold a litigation"

He said to his messy assistant that looks more like a beggar than the Crown Prince's Aide.

"Aaahh, the preparation of the engagement party, the issue among the slave traders, dark guilds, and black market, and now we are preparing litigation?!"

Dion cried out couldn't maintain his frustration, litigation in the Imperial Court enacted the whole Azure nobles as the judges in the election of the solution, and the verdict won't be accepted by the law if the attendance of the nobles at the Court is lower than half of the total members, 2nd or 3rd and many times litigation of the same issue would be repeated until it is statutory valid.

In short, it was so much a hassle.

"Your Highness, could you imagine how much of work to prepare and invite those oh so high-esteemed nobles?"

Tears flew out of Dion's desperate face. Since the lawsuit between nobles rarely occurs, this is the first time Rex is handling this kind of issue in his life, though, Law is a principal lesson for the next Emperor and he mastered it perfectly, still, the reality is more tiring than the theory.

"Your Highness, I beg you, Please... Please... with all my life at stake I beg you to monitor that fiancee of yours, it's only been a week since her arrival at the capital yet she already filled this working chamber with endless paperwork, I... I... I just can't take it anymore"

Sob!

Sob!

Sob!

Dion is whining while holding Rex's right leg kneeling, wiping his tears and snot off his tired face as he could barely sleep this week thanks to a certain troublemaker.

Sigh...

Compare to the classic type of The damsel in distress, Grizel is definitely The damsel who brings distress.

"Since the Roseville family is part of Orthodox faction, you just have to instigate some nobles of the non-orthodox and neutral faction in secret to suggest a solution, that is to confiscate the Roseville territory at the Court"

"Then use half of the confiscated assets as the penalty for the breach of contract to the Claymore and the other half as a fine to the Empire"

"Lastly, strip the whole Roseville family's status of nobility"

Rex said while pushing Dion's messy head away from him, this is the best way to reap a little benefit of the Roseville family's misfortune, half of the lavished Barony assets is not a bad amount.

"I guess it worth the works, as expected of the culprit's fiance, both of them are thinking alike..."

"...Like a demon"

Dion mumbling helplessly in low voice reaching the chair that was covered in a pile of documents, he forgot that his prince has good ears.

'Seems like this guy has some left energy to badmouth me, did he wants another extra work?'

Rex said staring at the pathetic Assistant then continued to read the report written in the document in his hand.

There might be a little bickering between the two head factions since Claymore County is part of the Non-orthodox faction, and on the opposite, Roseville is from the Orthodox faction.

Though, now Rex understands that is just another political drama of the 2 traitors who are the head of each faction.

Their leaders may be the traitors who joined hands at the back of everyone, but their faction members are not aware of this fact, since their hostility toward each other is real, Rex takes it as an advantage.

By using them, this two-faced Prince is plotting the neutral and non-orthodox to go against the Orthodox faction in elections at the Imperial Court.

'This time will be the loss of the Orthodox faction since their member is the one at fault, well, at least seems like there will be no prolongation of the litigation'

He thought inwardly. Since he already solved the main problem, what was left is only the paperwork and the preparation for the Imperial Court.

"How about my selected Aides, when will they started to work?"

Dion's dim eyes brightened as he recalled the good news he gets earlier this morning.

"They will arrive at the Imperial Palace in a few days, Your Highness"

He chirped happily, Dion had investigated the name listed by Grizel to work for Rex, most of them are from the noble families who have strong influences in the past, but their glory soon vanished as their family members infected with an unknown and incurable illness one after another, just like the late Empress.

"It's a shame that Miss Belial refused to reveal herself as the one who found the fact about the poisoning, or else these potential Aides will pledge loyalty towards her instead of Your Highness"

"Hahaha, do you think she was that generous as giving me valuable things?"

Rex said in amusement, though they didn't know each other for a long time, he could at least tell that Grizel wasn't a charitable person.

"Pardon?"

"She picked up the best people then give me the potential ones she didn't choose to help me manage every mess she caused"

He said clearly, he knows Grizel's intention to give him the helping hands, because these troubles are only the beginning of her doing, and there will be more of it from now on.

"Sigh... At least she gave us the helpers, but I didn't see anyone around the Miss except for her Butler and Maid"

Dion is somehow confused with the Prince's statements that she had picked the best people since he never sees her assistant.

"You might not feel it since you are not an awakener, but those two..."

Rex gulped before continuing his words in a serious face.

"...are dangerous, very dangerous"

Lucy, Levi, and Rex. Without their blessing and ancient weapons, all of them have an equal level of strength, make it possible for these 3 to feel the power of each other.

But one thing that makes this Prince anxious is the fact that he couldn't feel his fiancee's strength whatsoever, only 2 possibilities exist for this, she is far too weak below his level, or...

Though never confirm it himself, he has a hunch that Grizel is stronger than him.

"Speaking of which, a while ago Nine comes back from Miss Belial's mansion bringing the results of her tests and a message for Your Highness"

Dion said bringing up the report brought by the youngest shadow guard who is working as an errand boy for the 2 demons right now.

"Hoo, what message?"

"I appreciate your help, is what the Miss said"

"Ah, She got my intention straight away"

Rex smiled recalling his capable fiancee, he didn't say anything yet she understood his move perfectly. On the contrary, Dion is thinking so hard to understand something.

"Your Highness, may I ask why did she thank you? when all the tutors you have arranged to test her were the most difficult and prideful high-class nobles"

Dion who couldn't comprehend the Prince's way of thinking gave up and choose to ask him directly.

"I expected those tutors to make it harder for her test"

Dion frowned upon the Prince's expectation, normally a lover, not to mention a fiancee, wanted to make things easier for their loved ones, but the Prince did the opposite, moreover, the Miss is thanking him.

"Yes, My Prince. according to Nine's report, her tests seemingly harder than the quiz for a scholar"

Swayed by the rumors, those prideful tutors thought Miss Belial is looking down at their teaching subjects when she asked for the tests without the proper lessons.

"It's normal for them to feel offended by my fiancee's sudden request and make it hard for her to pass the tests"

"I don't get it why did you provoke them purposely, Your Highness"

"She never attends any of social gatherings events, I just giving her a stretch of connection to some powerful nobles. don't you heard the results of her test already?"

Rex believes that Grizel will pass the test without a single problem, this trivial thing doesn't need a concern of him.

"Aaaahh, I get it. Yes, she passed almost all of the tests perfectly while acting modest and respectful to the tutors and breaking the baseless bad rumors in no time, they even have a deep discussion in every subject tested, now those nobles are attached to her intelligence, the fiancee of my prodigious prince is just amazing as always that I can't be surprised anymore"

Though with a hint of a petty sarcasm remark, the report was true. But Rex didn't pay attention to it as he abruptly gets up from his seat and asked Dion in a shocking face.

"Almost, you said? Not all of them?!"

"Hhmm? yes. it's quite unexpected that she failed in this less-important subject, since it was only an additional subject so it doesn't affect the final result of her test, though the tutor insists her to take a proper lesson of this trivial thing"

"What? Is there any hint that she did it on purpose?"

Rex said hastily, his mighty fiancee wouldn't do something without a reason, if it is intentional, she must have a reason, he learned this habit of hers the hard way and didn't wish to repeat his past failure.

"Nine said it's more likely that she doesn't have any decent idea of this unimportant subject..."

Rex's jaw dropped low, up until now never been a single thought of Grizel's weakness passes through his mind, because it seems like that kind of thing is not exist.

"What kind of disastrous subject that great fiance of mine couldn't pass?..."

To be continued...
