Becoming a vampire means completely changing your identity. -Park Chan-wook
"Vlad my dear. I have a mission for you to take care of." Clarida BloodMoon said as she sited comfortably in her chair within the throne room. With eyes crimson red and long jet-black hair that makes her white skin tone stand out. Dusty pink cheeks that play across her porcelain face. Her dress composing of a black top that comes with a silver detailed split-colored corset. The top is lined with white ruffles that match the long wavy skirt and sleeves giving an elegant look. Herewith all her glory, my vampire queen.
"What do you have for me, my queen?" Vlad asked as he kneeled before her. His eyes not reaching her gaze for it was disrespectful to look into the eyes of a royal especially the queen of vampires.
"Recently there has been word from my general that more hunters have been snatching young pups from packs and children of the night from the clans."
How could this be? Surly theses hunters can't be that skilled? "My queen, how is this possible? Hunters are still human, the only explanation for this is..."
"Yes," Clarida said. "One of our own has betrayed us. The alpha king has sent me a message about some rogues joining the hunters."
"Is there a motive for this? What could they be planning?"
"It's still undetermined on what's going on precisely, but we do know from one of the children that did escape that they are using kids to train so that one day they raise a big enough army to take us on."
So, it's war. How repulsive of them to kidnap innocent children. There is no honor in such barbaric means of taking us out. What has this world come too.
"However, that's not the only situation that has been reported back to me."
I sighed. "What else has happened?"
"A message from the current dragon king Adrian Valentine, told me that during the night of the coronation for his mate Diana to be queen was interrupted. One of their own betrayed them and planned to raid the castle with Hunters all around."
"Did the attack happen? Is the queen okay?" I asked concerned. The dragon nation is great allies with us.
"She and everyone are safe. They were saved by a fox."
Fox?
"The same fox that has been rumored to be attacking packs and other clans?" I asked.
"The very one. But there are more of them. The only thing we know about these foxes is that they only attack packs and clans that mistreat their members. A meeting will happen soon to discuss it at the alpha king's palace."
"Will you be attending my queen?"
"No. I would like for you to go as my stand-in."
I knew she would say that. My dear queen has been avoiding the alpha for some reason and I believe I know why. I must find a way to convince to go and see her. This could help mend her broken heart.
"As you wish my queen. If that is all I'll be taking my leave."
Clarida nodded her head dismissing me. I gave one final bow before leaving the throne room. I decided to take a walk in the moonlight to think of a plan to help my queen finally talk to the alpha king. It has been over 200 years since her mate king Lazarus BloodMoon was killed by his brother Silas BloodMoon over stupid jealousy. He wanted to be king so badly he would murder his brother for it. His actions lead him to be beheaded.
"Hey Vlad, is that you?"
I stopped walking looking around to see who called out to me. I looked up into the trees to see my annoying, but good friend David Hunt. I haven't seen him in a while.
"What are you doing here David?"
"I have just been wandering around my free time. My good friend/alpha Sean has found his mate and I have too. I'm planning a date with her."
This was a surprise. David found ally found a second chance at love. I remember the day his mate was killed. David was never the same again. Looking at him now, the dullness in his eyes is gone.
"Who is the lucky girl?
David smiled. "Her name is Summer Fall. I'm sure you heard of her."
Summer Fall...Unbelievable.
"Your second mate is the famous hunter that works under the alpha king."
"The very one!" David said proudly.
"I'm happy for you."
"Thanks. Have you found your mate yet?"
I sighed deeply. "No. I don't have time to look for my mate. I must look after the queen."
"Oh my god man! No, you don't! Clarida and I talked and she wants you to find your mate." David said shaking head. "And you can call her Clarida."
"You know I'm not one to be on friendly terms with our queen. To me it's disrespectful."
David rolled his eyes. "Ugh! You're so serious about things."
"It would do you some good to be serious once in a while," I said taking a seat at a nearby bench.
"You trying to say something about me?"
"Yes."
"Jeez. You have not changed." David said pouting.
"I best be getting back. I have much to do. Say hi to your mate for me. I would like to meet her."
"You want to me!?" David shouted happily.
"Yeah. Best to warn her truthfully in what she's getting into." I said smirking before walking away into the night. David yelled from behind like a mad man. He hasn't changed much either.
I lived in the castle to make my work easier for the queen. Whatever work she wants me to do I do it. No matter what it is. I live to serve my queen. I looked out my window watching the stars glimmer in the night sky. I wasn't like normal vampires they stayed up during the night and slept through the day. Getting my work done during the day with no interruptions is a blessing. I can't stand some of the royals I worked with in the past. I lived on this earth for 7,955 years and I have yet to find my mate. I'm starting to believe I won't ever find her. I wonder. What is it like to have a mate?
