Chapter 110
âSheâs trying to take me down because she thinks Christian likes me. Iâve always been a good friend to
her. I donât know why sheâs doing this,â cried Bella. Pearly tears flowed down her cheeks, stirring pity in
everyoneâs hearts.
Christian sat back in his chair. As he looked up at Bella, he tightly grasped his knees as he quickly
lowered his head again and averted his gaze from her.
Nancy was so angry that she almost passed out. âT-This Victoria. I treated her like she was my own
daughter, yet she dared to do such a heartless thing! Iâll sue her. Iâll make sure she rots in jail!â
âMomâ¦â Bella tugged her motherâs arm, shaking her head repeatedly. âNo, sheâs my good friend. Iââ
Kevin stared at his daughter silently, deep in his own thoughts.
Nancy shook her head and interrupted her daughter, âYou almost died! Do you realize that? Your leg is
broken, and you might never be able to dance again! Why are you still standing up for that murderer?â
Hatred surged in her heart like bile.
Hearing this, Bella was stunned.
Staring down at her right leg, she tried to move it. After discovering that she couldnât even twitch her
leg, her mouth was agape as the tears began to stream down her cheeks.
Lucasâ eyes brimmed with pain. Frowning, he said, âCould there be some misunderstanding? Tori loves
to fool around, butââ
Slap!
Nancy slapped him hard across the face. Jabbing a trembling finger at him, she shouted, âYouâve
always been shameless! Everyone knows you have a thing for that murderer, but she almost ran your
sister over! Why are you still speaking for her?â
Her breathing started to get heavier and her voice was hoarse from all the shouting. âWhat are you
trying to say? That your sister almost killed herself to frame that murderer?!â
As for Bella, she didnât say a word. She flopped on the bed and stared at him with betrayal clear in her
eyes.
Since he was unable to face his sister, Lucas turned away from her gaze. He held the cheek that
Nancy had slapped while each heartbeat was a dull ache. âBella, Iâm sorry. If I hadnât introduced her to
you, you wouldnât beâ¦like this.â
âLuke, donât blame yourself. I lost my leg, but Iâm still alive. Thatâs what counts.â Bella forced a smile,
but she couldnât stop her tears from flowing.
Lucas couldâve bore his guilt better if she had blamed him for everything. She was a dancer who could
no longer dance. Yet, here she was, trying to comfort him. His heart sagged, heavy with guilt.
Clenching his fists, he looked at his sister on the hospital bed and then said solemnly, âBella, donât
worry. Iâll avenge you.â
âFinally, spoken like the brother youâre supposed to be. Come on, letâs go to the Coleman Residence
and find that murderer!â Nancy dragged Lucas out. Looking back at Kevin, she shouted, âYouâre coming
with us too!â
Kevin turned to Christian, who had been sitting silently at the side. âChristian, Iâll leave Bella in your
care. After all, she was injured because of you.â
Patting Christian on the shoulder, Kevin glanced meaningfully at Bella before finally leaving the ward at
Nancyâs persistent urging.
After he shut the door, only two people were left in the wardâChristian and Bella.
As Bella wiped the tears off her face, she struggled to smile. âIâm fine. You must be tired from a long
day at the company. You should go home and rest. I wonât kill myself or anything like that just because I
canât dance.â
Christian stared wordlessly at her.
Bella chuckled bitterly. âAll right, I admit losing a leg and not being able to dance anymore is a huge
blow, but Iâm definitely not thinking about killing myself.â
She bit her lip. A look of misery suddenly flooded her face. âItâs just⦠I never expected Victoria to run
me over because she thought you liked me. Iâm sad that someone I considered a friend could do this to
me.â
Then, she glanced at Christian. She wasnât expecting him to also be looking at her. Flustered, she
hurriedly lowered her head. She could feel her cheeks burning.
The incident between Lucas and Victoria had already bothered Christian enough. Now, he needed to
deal with the matter of Victoria ârunning someone over.â
He stared at Bella coldly. âIs she stupid? Out of all the time to run you over, she chose to do it on her
birthday? In front of so many people?â
âYou doubted me yesterday, and I canât believe you still wonât believe me now.â Bella pointed at herself.
Despair and anger were evident on her face. âMy greatest wish in life is to become a professional
dancer and perform in front of people all over the world. Are you seriously suggesting I threw away my
lifeâs dream and crippled myself to frame Victoria? Do you think Iâm that crazy?â
He didnât back down. Sneering, he said, âIâm not you. How should I know whatâs going on in
thnovelxo.com fast updateat head of yours?â
âYou⦠still donât believe me?â Tears rolled her cheeks as she cried, âVictoria and my brother have
wronged you. Why are you still taking her side?â
Christian frowned. He stood up angrily. His voice was somehow even chillier. âWhat happened between
her and me is none of your business.â
âIt seems like youâre really in love with her. She cheated on you, yet you still canât let her go. You still
have feelings for her, am I right?â Bellaâs fingers clutched her hospital gown. Her eyes burned with
resentment, anger, and jealousy.
Without the slightest hint of hesitation, he shouted, âYouâre wrong!â
âSo, why donât you believe me?â Bellaâs soft voice was wracked with pain. âSo many people saw her
run me over. Or do you think I let Victoria hit me?â
However, he continued to stare coldly at her. âYou didnât need to let Victoria hit you. You couldâve done
something to her brakes and just ran in front of her car.â
He knew Victoria could be stupid and possessive. However, she would never have the guts to kill
anyone. He once saw her being so scared to slaughter a chicken that she held a knife unsteadily over
the chickenâs neck.
The ward fell into uneasy silence.
Both of them stared at each other wordlessly.
All the oxygen in the ward seemed to have disappeared. Their breathing was labored like they were on
a high mountain.
Staring at Christianâs cold face, Bella sank back into her bed. âIf you donât believe me, then thereâs
nothing I can do.â
Curling her lips, she continued, âI really donât want to take this to court, but since you donât believe me, I
have no choice but to sue her for attempted murder.â
Seeing that Christian was still unimpressed, Bella fished out her phone and played a recording.
âGo to hell, Bella Spritz! I want you dead!â
Victoriaâs spiteful voice rang out of her phone speakers before there was a loud crash.
Christian narrowed his eyes as his whole body seemed to stiffen up. âHow did you come about with this
recording?â He still couldnât believe Victoria would try to murder someone. âHow long did you take to
plan this whole thing?
