Chapter 17 Christian Wonât Let Her Leave So Easily
âDonât. Your jacket will get ruined.â Victoria removed the jacket and handed it to her brother.
She was covered in filth from all the washrooms and puke she had to clean.
âRuin it, my a*s!â With bloodshot eyes, Vincent aggressively grabbed the suit jacket from her and
draped it on her shoulders again. âIâm going to get mad if you repeat this kind of bullsh*t!â
Victoria smiled as she felt the warmth of the jacket, no longer rejecting Vincentâs love.
âQuit your job too!â Vincent pulled his wallet out and shoved a bank card into her hands. âHere, take it.
Let me know when it runs out of money!â
âItâs fine. Iâm pretty happy being a cleaner.â Victoria pushed the card back to him.
However, he didnât take it but looked at her with distress. Tori, is it because youâre mad at me for not
standing up for you two years ago that you donât want to spend my money? 1-â
âNo. Youâre overthinking it,â Victoria cut him off with concealed bitterness. âMom and Dad will surely get
upset if they find out youâve given me money. Besides, Dad has a heart condition.â
Vincent clenched his fists, loosened them, then clenched them again. He ultimately put away the bank
card. âFine, if you donât want to take the card, you can at least let me help you find a better job, canât
you?â
âItâs fine, Vince, Victoria mumbled. âI wonât be able to leave Delta Club.
Christian would never let her leave so easily.
Vincentâs face blanched reflexively for a moment before he gritted his teeth, so upset that the veins
around his temples popped. âDid Christian force you into becoming a cleaner?â
She nodded in affirmation.
âThat f*cking bâstard!â Vincent loosened his necktie, his eyes turning bloodshot. âHad he not done
enough when he dragged you into the penitentiary two years ago?! Iâm going to find that son of a b-
âVince!â Vincent turned around as he cussed, only for Victoria to drag him back, looking all spent.
âDonât bother. Youâre no match for him.â
âWhat am I supposed to do, then? Sit back and watch him mangle you?!â He enunciated with anger
while punching his chest. âWhat kind of a f*cking brother does that make me?!â
Worried, Gabrielle approached the Coleman siblings and stood next to Victoria when things became
loud.
âThink about your two children. Donât let your anger get the better of you.â Victoria didnât want to say
more when Gabrielle was now here. âItâs getting late. Iâm heading back.â novelxo.com fast update
With that, she took Gabrielle with her and left.
âTori!â Vincent shouted from behind, irresolution and guilt surging beneath his eyes.
Victoria stopped in response but didnât turn around.
Christian Wonât Let Her Leave So Easily
âIâm sorryâ¦â Vincent clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles paled.
âIt has nothing to do with you. It was my fault for loving the wrong person.â Victoriaâs voice deepened,
and it was laced with a hint of hoarseness. âMom and Dad, have theyâ¦. have they asked about me?â
Vincent parted his lips a few times but couldnât bring himself to utter a word, filled with utter guilt.
âVince⦠Good night. Remember, donât act rashly.â Victoria fought back the bitter tears hanging at the
corner of her eyes and jogged to the taxi parked by the side of the road before getting in.
Her parents hadnât forgiven her, huh?
However, she didnât even have the right to blame them. She could only blame herself for loving and
believing someone she shouldnât have.
Gabrielle entered the taxi after Victoria. The former had a bunch of questions, but she just handed
Victoria a piece of tissue in the end. âHere, wipe it away, or people will think Iâve bullied you.â
By the time the pair returned to the dormitory, the lights were already out.
âDo you two have no civism, monkeying around in the middle of the night? Can anybody get some
sleep here?â At that, Daisy said mockingly. âNever mind, forget I ever asked. What manners can I
expect from you two when oneâs a murderer and the other oneâs an escort?!â
âAsk yourself this, Daisy. Whoâs the one who talks on the phone until late at night and disturbs
everyone elseâs sleep?!â Gabrielleâs face flushed with anger. Also, how dare you call me an escort! Iâm
as much of a hostess as you are. Itâs not like Iâve ever done any shameless deals!
âSo what if I talk on the phone, huh? Am I not allowed to sleep early when Iâm not on the phone
today?!â Daisy rolled her eyes.
âYou were still on your phone when we came in.â Gabrielle pointed at her, so livid that her finger was
even shaking.
âI got tired from playing with my phone and wanted to sleep. Just as I put it down, you guys came
marching in, making a lot of noise.â Daisy snorted. âIâm not asking for much. Since you guys are in the
wrong, apologize and bow deferentially. Is that so hard?â
Gabrielle was made so livid by Daisyâs shamelessness that she was rendered speechless.
