Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Rebirth of FayeWords: 8901

"So, how was your day last night?" Faye's grandfather asked as it was already past afternoon, and they were at a restaurant. "How is Janine?" Her grandfather added, as her grandfather only knew Janine because she didn't tell him that she had started a small business and flower shops, so he only assumes that she is freelancing and investing. Therefore, he has no idea about Andrea, Austin, and John.

"It was fun, and Janine is the same old," Faye replied back and cut her last chunk of steak.

"Wow, you seem like you don't have fun when you are with me," her grandfather said.

She chuckled and said, "of course not." As she was about to finish her meal, her phone rang. "Oh, excuse me, gramps, I have to take this," she said and picked up her phone before getting up.

"Another investment?" her grandfather said.

"Somewhat," she answered with one word and smiled as her grandfather did a quick short sigh before waving to the waiter for the bill. Faye just smiled at her grandfather's quick sigh before answering the phone in a quiet hallway. "What's up, Andrea?"

"The person you told me yesterday had called," Andrea said.

"Perfect, tell him he can meet us at the company around 5-ish," she replied.

Once Faye finished, she headed back to the table and accidentally brushed against a tall man in a black suit. "Excuse me," she said, continuing her way.

The man quickly turns back and tries to grab onto her wrist, but then a waitress accidentally appears with drinks in her hand as she blocks his reach. "Sorry, sir. Please excuse me," the waitress said and made her way to the tables. The tall man saw the young lady that brushed against him had already walked a far distance and continued to disappear from sight. "Sir?" said the person beside him, but he wasn't paying attention to the person.

Faye sat back down and shove the last piece in her mouth, before saying "Alright, gramps. I have to go. I have lots of things to do today." She gets her purse and keys before getting up.

"Oh really?" he said with his eyebrow raised.

"Yup," she answered. "Do you want me to walk to your car?" she teased her grandfather.

"Ha funny, no thanks. You can go on ahead as you are busy," he said, waving his hand.

"Alright, bye Gramps," she said and smiled before leaving.

Faye already exited the restaurant, and the tall suited man finally appeared to no longer see her. "Sir, who are you looking for?" the other person asked.

Faye parked beside a high school as class was over and kids were heading home before she entered the gates and spotted that kid who begged Faye to help him. He was crouching down behind a large tree as he was looking at someone.

"Is that her?" Faye asks, startling him as she makes no sound coming up to him.

"How did you get here? How did you know I go here?" he said, shocked.

"I did a background check on you," she states. "So, is that her?" Faye pointed at a rugged young girl who had blonde highlights in her hair with a lollipop in her mouth.

"Shhh," he said in panic and pulled her finger down before answering, "yes..."

They watched her, walking along the side of the High school building coming towards them, the next thing you know three girls appeared in front of her as she was beating them up by pulling their hair or shoving them to the ground. "It seems like you got a lot of work to do to get a girl like that," Faye whispered to him. "I surprise you like a bully as someone as timid as you," she added.

"She's not a bully," he defends her

She smirked and said," Oh really. It doesn't look like that."

"You don't know her as I do. She only defends the people who get bullied by others. Like today she helped a classmate from those girls, and now those girls are trying to gang up on her," he said with his cheek completely red.

"Then what are you waiting for? Go help her," Faye said.

"I can't. I'll get in her way," he said in defeat as the girl he likes already finished beating up the girls as they ran away.

"Okay, then when are you planning to confess to her?" she asked, impatient.

"Umm, I don't know," he said.

"Well, tell me when you know what to do," she said, leaning back against the tree and pulling out the chocolate he gave her.

"Well, I never have done this before," he said, nervous but still watching her from afar.

"You better hurry before she leaves," Faye casually said as it put more pressure on him. "By the way, where did you get this chocolate? It's delicious," Faye said and popped a chunk into her mouth.

"Oh, my dad gave it to me for my birthday present when he went to France two years ago," he said as Faye almost choked before spitting the chocolate out.

"You gave me a two-year-old chocolate!" Faye said, blown out of her mind.

"Well, yeah... It's made in France. I could just eat it carelessly, so I saved it," he said.

"And you gave it to me to eat. Are you trying to kill me?" she said and grabbed his collar.

Before he could speak, someone shouted, "Hey, let him go!" They both look to see the girl he likes, walking over to them.

Faye smiled and said, "This is none of your business, stay out of it."

"I said let him go," the girl said, seriously.

"And why should I?'' Faye smirk.

"I will take a photo of you and show the police that an old lady is trying to molest a high school student," she said with her phone out as Faye's eyebrow twitched when she heard 'old lady'.

"You are lucky this time, kid," Faye said to the boy before letting go of the collar and walking away.

"It's up to you now, kid," Faye said to herself before leaving.

The boy quickly shouted to his crush, "THANK YOU!" and left like the wind, trying to chase after Faye. As the girl stood there, not knowing what just happened.

"Wait! Didn't you agree to help me! You can't just leave!" the kid said as he caught up to Faye.

"What are you doing here? I just help you! That was your chance to talk to her," she said as the boy just realized she was doing an act back there. Faye face-palm her head before saying, "what are you waiting for? Go!"

"Go where?' the kid said, clueless.

"Go and repay her for helping you just now," Faye said as if she was explaining to an actual child. "Like buying her something... food... flowers... a stuffed animal," Faye spewed random things as she also had no idea.

"But what if she doesn't want anything?'' he asked.

"Then be persistent like you were to me," she said. "Now go before she's already gone," Faye said and pushed him to go.

Faye watched the girl decline the offer from the boy as she was leaving. The kid looked back at Faye for help. "FOLLOW!" She mouthed the word, and the kid was quick on his feet and followed behind the girl and continued to offer a repayment. Faye watches the two go before pulling out her keys.

"Faye?" Someone said behind her.

She turned to see a young teenage boy in a white-collar shirt open as his redshirt was exposed with his short chocolate almond hair shined. "Ian," she said.

"What are you doing here?" he said.

A couple of minutes later, Faye finished explaining to Janine's little brother why she was there. He leaned over to see the two people disappearing into two tiny specks. "So, you are matchmaking those two," he said.

"You know them?" Faye asks.

"Of course. I'm quite popular, you know," Ian showed off.

"Oh really? Great, then you can help me with them." Faye smiled.

"Ah, no thank you. You got into this mess then you have finished it," Ian said with one hand on his pack bag's strap ready to leave.

"Oh really, then I should tell Janine what you were doing last night," Faye smiled.

"I don't know what you are talking about. I was studying?" His voice quivered.

"I know you were playing games with your friends all night. I can see bags under your eyes," Faye analyzed.

"How do you know that?" He said, a bit shocked.

Faye smirked before saying, "you just told me now."

"Damn it, fine. What do you need help with," he said in defeat and leaned against the school building.

"I want to know more about these two," she said.

"Wow, the clever Faye needs information. Don't you have people who can do that for you," Ian teases her.

Faye smiled tightly before pulling out her phone and unlocking it while presenting his view as she was about to dial Janine's number. "Hold on!" Ian stood straight and stopped Faye from calling.

"Okay okay. I'll help you without upsetting you," he said.

"Good," she said and put her phone away. "And the reason I need your help is that I need information from the inside." She added lastly.

"Oh," he said, slightly disappointed. "Not because I'm popular and smart,"

Faye rolls her eyes at Ian before looking at the time. "Well, I got things to do. Do you want a ride?" She said casually while walking to her car. Ian smiles brightly before chasing after her and entering the car.

"Can we take a quick stop somewhere I can eat? I'm starving," Ian said. As they were seat belting, the back doors opened, and a teenage girl entered in a rush.
