Chapter 1017:
âYes,â Allison said, her voice resolute. âItâs time to accelerate things.â She exchanged a look with Kellanâboth understood the implications of her decision. Danielâs greatest desire right now was the key to Hackerâs World. By using it as bait, Allison could draw him out, all while potentially making contact with her mother.
It was a bold planâone that could accomplish two goals with a single move. But the risk was palpable and unavoidable.
Kellan turned to Sherman. âKeep monitoring Danielâs movements. If anything happens, report immediately.â
âUnderstood, Mr. Lloyd,â Sherman replied before exiting the study.
Moments later, the sound of frantic knocking echoed through the door. âMr. Lloyd, somethingâs wrong!â Jimâs voice echoed through the door, laced with anxiety. âHoyt is here causing trouble!â
Allisonâs stomach churned at the mention of the name. She immediately remembered how vile the illegitimate son of the Lloyd family had been back in Athton.
Kellanâs expression turned frosty. âTell him to leave. Now.â
âWeâve tried, sir. Security is blocking the entrance, but he forced his way in,â Jim explained, wiping the sweat from his brow. âEven though heâs the illegitimate son, heâs still Brookâs child. People hesitate to stop him forcefully, worried about Brookâs reaction.â
Kellanâs eyes narrowed, his gaze icy. âHe must be tired of breathing.â

Allison instinctively reached for Kellanâs hand. âNo one comes back without a reason. Heâs got something planned.â
Kellanâs expression darkened further, as if a distant memory had stirred something cold and unforgiving within him. âJim, check if Brook is coming home today.â
He spoke of his biological father with no reverenceâjust cold, detached words. Allison could feel the emotional frost in his tone, like ice that refused to thaw.
Jim quickly responded, âOne moment.â
He quickly made a call on the landline. After a brief conversation, he looked up, confirming, âYes, Brook is returning today.â
It was clear nowâHoyt had deliberately chosen today to come and stir up trouble.
Allison squeezed Kellanâs hand. âLetâs go. It seems he wonât leave until he sees you.â
Together, they made their way to the living room.
Upon entering, they found their unwelcome guest lounging on the sofa, sipping coffee with a smug look on his face.
Hoyt, ever the provocateur, smirked as he saw Kellan. âKellan, youâve finally arrived,â he said, his eyes narrowing with malice. âI came to see grandmother. I heard sheâs regained consciousness, but you didnât bother to inform us.â
As soon as the words left his mouth, Hoyt noticed Allison standing close by.
âWell, Ms. Clarke, you certainly resemble the mistress of the Lloyd family,â he said with a smirk.
