Chapter 1053:
This was all Allisonâs fault! Somehow, sheâd actually managed to worm her way into Kinsleeâs good graces, leaving him out in the cold.
After Nova and Brook departed, Kinsleeâs thoughts turned to Allison, fearing that she might carry a bruised heart after the dayâs events. Eager to soothe her, she spoke earnestly.
âAllison, Iâm truly sorry. Itâs because of me that you were treated unfairly.â
âItâs not your fault, and I wasnât mistreated,â Allison replied with a reassuring smile. âI never let anyone push me around.â
Her words brought a warmth to Kinsleeâs heart, but Allison wasnât finished. She added with a lighthearted tone,
âBesides, if anything had gone wrong, Kellan was right there with me.â
What she said made Kellan smile as he sat beside her.
âYes,â he agreed quietly.
He reached for the snake-shaped necklace and placed it back around her neck with care.
Though it was just a small act, the gesture held a sense of commitment, as though he were sealing a vow.
âAllison,â Kellan said, his tone steady and resolute, âas Grandmother has said, youâre the one Iâve chosen for this lifetime. This necklace belongs to you, and that will never change.â

His eyes held hers, serious and unwavering, as if the world outside the room had ceased to exist. For a moment, Allison was caught in the depth of his gaze.
Then she blinked and teased him softly, âWhy so serious all of a sudden? Donât forget, Kinslee is still here.â
Kellan took her hand gently but firmly.
âThis is something Grandmother already approves of,â he replied.
Hearing that, Kinslee turned her head, her face brightening with a smile.
âI didnât see or hear a thing,â she joked, her tone playful.
Watching their exchange, she added warmly, âSeeing you two so in love, I can finally relaxââ
But her sentence was cut short as she started coughing uncontrollably.
âKinslee!â Kellan said, alarmed. Turning to Jim, he instructed firmly, âPlease take Grandmother to rest. Have the doctor check on her, too.â
Jim nodded quickly.
âMr. Lloyd, the doctor is already waiting, but Mrs. Lloyd hasnât taken her medicine yet today.â
Kinslee waved off their concerns, though her voice was faint.
âItâs just my old condition acting up. Nothing to worry about.â
She leaned slightly on her cane and smiled.
âI am a bit tired now, though. You two should rest as well. Itâs time I took my medicine.â
