“Goodbye,” Kinslee replied with a kind smile before leaving the room.

Afterward, Allison and Kellan went to their bedroom. Allison lay on the soft bed, her eyes closed as she tried to quiet her mind. But one question lingered, refusing to fade.

“Kellan,” she began, her voice steady, “you’ve had the power to cut ties with Brook for years, but you haven’t. Is it because of the shares he holds?”

From Kellan’s previous reactions, she could tell that Lloyd Group meant the most to him.

Kellan, sitting close to her, took her hand in his and traced her fingers lightly.

“Yes,” he said after a pause. “In the past, I maintained that connection for the sake of the shares. But now, my thinking has changed.” His tone grew firm as he added, “Since we’re bound to face off eventually, I’ve decided to act sooner and use other means to secure all the shares of Lloyd Group.”

He knew all too well that Brook was a controlling and highly suspicious person. This had made Kellan tread carefully and plan thoroughly over the years.

Allison, always quick to understand, pieced the puzzle together.

“The shares of Lloyd Group have been shifting recently, and people have been speculating about big changes. That must be your doing.”

“Allison,” he said, his voice low and steady, “I have to say, you know me better than anyone else does.”

His gaze moved from her calm eyes to her lips, lingering there for a moment.

“Once I have solid evidence of Brook’s embezzlement, I’ll be ready to remove him at the shareholders’ meeting,” Kellan said, his tone steady but resolute.

“Brook has been extremely cautious. Over the years, he’s laid countless traps for the other shareholders. That’s why we still lack the key evidence to act decisively.”

Kellan knew all too well that Brook was not an ethical man.
