Chapter 1058:
Brook had always known Kellan was strong-willed, but this level of defiance was beyond what he had anticipated.
Nova exchanged a quick glance with Hoyt, who sat beside her.
âHoney, donât let this upset you too much. Even with Charisma Company, Kellan is still far behind Lloyd Group. Heâll learn his lesson soon enough, especially when he faces some real challenges. After all, youâre his father. One day, he will realize his mistake and come back to apologize.â
As she spoke, she cast a meaningful look toward Hoyt.
As if on cue, Hoyt immediately dropped to his knees before Brook.
âDad, Iâve been reflecting deeply over the past few days. I made a huge mistake. I shouldnât have acted so impulsively.â He glanced cautiously at Brook, gauging his reaction, then continued, âIf only I were more capable of helping you, then Kellan wouldnât be so arrogant and make you upset.â
âYou donât need to be overly capable, Hoyt,â Nova chimed in. âJust work hard and give your father less to worry about in the future.â
Brookâs stern expression began to ease as he observed Hoytâs submissive demeanor. He nodded condescendingly and said, âGet up. Novaâs right. You should focus on working harder.â
Little did everyone know, he had plans in mind.

For years, he had intended to groom Kellan, shaping him into an excellent heir to the family legacy. But Kellanâs increasing defiance had made him question that decision. Perhaps using his other son Hoyt, who was less clever but more pliable, would be easier.
With this thought in mind, Brook spoke in a deep, authoritative tone.
âFrom now on, you should spend more time at the company. Iâll start considering letting you handle some projects.â
Novaâs eyes sparkled with delight. She quickly masked her excitement with a gentle smile and turned to Brook.
âThatâs a good idea. Hoyt already has a solid foundation inâ¦â
management. âWhat he lacks is practical experience in handling major projects. Thatâs why he hasnât caught up to Kellanâs understanding of the market yet.â
Brook nodded slightly, acknowledging her point. He was well aware of Hoytâs shortcomings. However, his reasoning went deeper than just project experience.
Hoytâs abilities were far too inferior to Kellanâs.
Brook rested a firm hand on Hoytâs shoulder and nodded thoughtfully.
âYour momâs right. You do lack project experience. Let me think⦠Why donât you report to the project department tomorrow? Thereâs an investment project that needs following up in a week. Youâll handle it.â
Nova blinked, caught off guard. She had expected Brook to assign Hoyt some minor responsibilities, something manageable to ease him into larger roles. This, however, was a significant leap.
She had heard about the upcoming investment project. It was tied to a high-profile figure from Aröme Tower.
