Chapter 1062:
After receiving the invitation letter, Hoyt wasted no time in reaching out to Melany. He snapped a photo of the envelope and sent it to her with a carefully crafted message:
âThis banquet is very important to Kellan and Allison. I heard they plan to prepare elaborate gifts for Fabian.â
Hoyt didnât reveal too much, thinking that this was enough for Melany to understand what was going on.
When Melany read the message, her thoughts churned.
âFabian, huh?â
Life at the Stevens household had become increasingly unbearable since Allisonâs last visit. Colton paid her no attention, and the servants treated her as if she were invisible. Despite her pregnancy, she received none of the care or pampering she had expected.
The mention of Allison reignited the flames of hatred burning in her heart.
Melanyâs nails dug sharply into her palms.
Since Allison had no intention of letting her live peacefully, then Melany would make sure they paid dearly for it.
Determined, she made her way to the study to see Colton.
Lately, Colton had spent most of his time in the study, only returning to the bedroom late at night. Their interactions had dwindled to almost nothing.
Melany stood outside the study door and knocked softly.
âCome in,â Colton said from within.
Melany pushed the door open and said,
âColton, I need to talk to you about something.â
The moment Coltonâs eyes landed on her, his expression darkened, and he growled, âGet out. Iâm busy.â
But Melany wasnât about to be dismissed so easily. She stepped inside, closed the door behind her, and walked up to his desk.
âColton, we havenât had a proper conversation in ages. Are you going to treat me like this forever? Donât forget Iâm pregnant now. If something happens to the babyâ¦â
Although clearly impatient, Colton leaned back in his chair and asked coldly, âWhat do you want?â
âColton, donât treat me like an enemy. Iâm not here to make a fuss.â Melany reached into her pocket and retrieved a photo she had saved.
âI heard that Fabian Morgan, the CEO of Aröme Tower, is coming to Ontdale. Heâll be hosting a birthday party in a few days.â
âI have a friend whoâs willing to pass along his invitation since he canât make it,â Melany remarked, handing her phone over.
She made no mention of Hoyt.
