Chapter 1097:
âLetâs hope you donât copy someone elseâs work again,â she mocked, her voice laced with sarcasm. âIf you do, youâll be exposed for sure.â
Abramâs discomfort was instantly visible. Did she have proof? No. That couldnât be possible. If she did, she would have already called him out on it.
âMs. Clarke, I also hope that when you lose, you wonât end up crying and begging me to let you off the hook!â Abram shot back.
The competition kicked off with Fabian getting everything ready for the design. He placed the materials and set up two large tables across from each other. The mood in the banquet hall was charged with both tension and excitement.
âCan you believe this? These two talented designers are actually competing to make high heels!â
âIâm really interested to see what kind of ideas theyâll come up with.â
âI find it odd that Ms. Clarke suggested this challenge. It seems like she thinks the design process will reveal who the original creator is.â
âThe real issue isnât about originality or copying â itâs about the bet theyâve made. The consequences for the loser will be severe!â

At that moment, all eyes were on Allison and Abram. As per the usual procedure, they were expected to begin by sketching their design ideas.
Abram quickly recreated Allisonâs previous design from memory. After years of practice, his version was so accurate that it appeared identical to the original at first sight.
âOne of my ideas is to add unique wing designs to the shoes,â he said proudly, taking the lead in explaining to everyone.
He briefly glanced at Allisonâs progress. He saw that she hadnât even begun her sketches and was already focusing on the shoe molds. This made Abram smirk and mock her. âSeems like you havenât worked on womenâs shoes in ages, Ms. Clarke. You canât even draw a design. So what if she could design jewelry? Womenâs shoes were a whole different ballgame!â
Colton noticed it too. He saw Kellan stepping away from Allison to get some tools for her. Colton couldnât hold back any longer. He felt like stepping in to offer her advice. But Melany grabbed his arm.
âColton, remember, weâre on Abramâs side for now,â she said.
She could tell Colton was starting to doubt this choice.
âEven if Allison loses and leaves Ontdale, Mr. Lloyd will still take care of her. But if we lose this competition, our company will be in serious trouble.â
Melanyâs eyes reddened.
âIâm okay, but Iâm worried about our baby. When they arrive, we might not have enough money to raise themâ¦â
Before she could finish, Colton pulled his hand away.
âEven if the Stevens family falls from grace, it wonât come to that.â Seeing that Allison seemed unacquainted with making shoes, he felt nothing but frustration. He just couldnât understand what she was doing.
She didnât have to make this bet in the first place.
