Chapter 1176:
Outside, however, Hoyt and Melany had already begun tearing into each other.
âMelany, youâre absolutely shameless!â Hoyt spat angrily. âYou were the one who seduced me, and then you turned around and betrayed me by secretly warning Kellan!â
âStop pointing fingers with no proof, Hoyt! Youâre the one whoâs shifted all the blame onto me!â Melany snapped, her voice sharp with anger. She could feel the storm brewing once more, but despite the fury simmering beneath the surface, she gritted her teeth and forced herself to stay composed.
âHoyt, if you keep going down this path, Brook will undoubtedly find out when things spiral out of control.â
At the mention of Brook, Hoyt fell silent, his rage stifled for the moment. But his expression remained a frozen mask, his anger still simmering just below the surface, like a storm cloud gathering on the horizon.
âYou bitch, mark my words,â he hissed, his voice dripping with venom. âYou think you can escape without facing the consequences after betraying me?â
âI betrayed you?â Melany scoffed, a cold laugh escaping her lips. âIâm simply looking for a way out!â
Her heart burned with hatred for Allison â if Melany had her way, sheâd tear her apart with her bare hands. But right now, keeping Hoyt in check was her top priority.
Melany knew better than to challenge him, especially now, when his pride had been so thoroughly shattered.
The thought of Hoytâs intimate actions with the vagrant in the lounge made her skin crawl. The fleeting disgust on her face didnât go unnoticed by Hoyt.
âDisgusted by me, are you?â he growled, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint. âHave you forgotten how you ended up in my bed, Melany?â
Nothing had gone right for him today, and Melany was the only outlet for his frustration. She was his punching bag, the target for his wounded ego.

Hoyt unleashed his fury on her with reckless abandon, but still, it wasnât enough to satisfy his rage.
As he spoke, his fist swung in her direction. âSince you dare to betray me, go to hell!â
His rage exploded, wild and untamed, like an animal on the edge of madness. He lunged for her, hands around her throat, intent on choking the life out of her.
The lingering terror of Kellanâs choking grip sparked Melanyâs instinctive reaction.
She dodged to the side, whispering to herself that she shouldnât argue with a madman.
âHoyt, youâve misunderstood everything,â she said, looking up with faux tears welling in her eyes. âWeâve both fallen so low. Do we really need to destroy each other?â
Her hand gently brushed over her belly, her eyes shimmering with fake vulnerability. âThe reason Iâm trying to find a way out⦠is for this child. I know youâve never been fond of children.â
âAnd what does your pregnancy have to do with me?â Hoyt snapped, not bothering to hide his disdain. âDonât think Iâll go easy on you just because youâre pregnant.â
Melany understood that subtlety wouldnât cut it. Hoytâs fury clouded his judgment, and a direct approach was her only chance.
She let the tears flow freely, her voice trembling as she spoke. âWhy do you think this child has nothing to do with you?â Sure enough, the softer approach worked.
