Chapter 1176:

Outside, however, Hoyt and Melany had already begun tearing into each other.

“Melany, you’re absolutely shameless!” Hoyt spat angrily. “You were the one who seduced me, and then you turned around and betrayed me by secretly warning Kellan!”

“Stop pointing fingers with no proof, Hoyt! You’re the one who’s shifted all the blame onto me!” Melany snapped, her voice sharp with anger. She could feel the storm brewing once more, but despite the fury simmering beneath the surface, she gritted her teeth and forced herself to stay composed.

“Hoyt, if you keep going down this path, Brook will undoubtedly find out when things spiral out of control.”

At the mention of Brook, Hoyt fell silent, his rage stifled for the moment. But his expression remained a frozen mask, his anger still simmering just below the surface, like a storm cloud gathering on the horizon.

“You bitch, mark my words,” he hissed, his voice dripping with venom. “You think you can escape without facing the consequences after betraying me?”

“I betrayed you?” Melany scoffed, a cold laugh escaping her lips. “I’m simply looking for a way out!”

Her heart burned with hatred for Allison — if Melany had her way, she’d tear her apart with her bare hands. But right now, keeping Hoyt in check was her top priority.

Melany knew better than to challenge him, especially now, when his pride had been so thoroughly shattered.

The thought of Hoyt’s intimate actions with the vagrant in the lounge made her skin crawl. The fleeting disgust on her face didn’t go unnoticed by Hoyt.

“Disgusted by me, are you?” he growled, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint. “Have you forgotten how you ended up in my bed, Melany?”

Nothing had gone right for him today, and Melany was the only outlet for his frustration. She was his punching bag, the target for his wounded ego.

Hoyt unleashed his fury on her with reckless abandon, but still, it wasn’t enough to satisfy his rage.

As he spoke, his fist swung in her direction. “Since you dare to betray me, go to hell!”

His rage exploded, wild and untamed, like an animal on the edge of madness. He lunged for her, hands around her throat, intent on choking the life out of her.

The lingering terror of Kellan’s choking grip sparked Melany’s instinctive reaction.

She dodged to the side, whispering to herself that she shouldn’t argue with a madman.

“Hoyt, you’ve misunderstood everything,” she said, looking up with faux tears welling in her eyes. “We’ve both fallen so low. Do we really need to destroy each other?”

Her hand gently brushed over her belly, her eyes shimmering with fake vulnerability. “The reason I’m trying to find a way out… is for this child. I know you’ve never been fond of children.”

“And what does your pregnancy have to do with me?” Hoyt snapped, not bothering to hide his disdain. “Don’t think I’ll go easy on you just because you’re pregnant.”

Melany understood that subtlety wouldn’t cut it. Hoyt’s fury clouded his judgment, and a direct approach was her only chance.

She let the tears flow freely, her voice trembling as she spoke. “Why do you think this child has nothing to do with you?” Sure enough, the softer approach worked.
