Chapter 1207:

“Colton, if you’re skeptical, you can have someone verify it. I assure you this time the information is completely reliable.” Melany adopted a hurt expression.

“Besides, if it turns out to be false, you won’t need to take any action, so there’s no risk involved.” She balled her hand into a fist.

No one understood better than Melany that this tip-off came directly from her inside source. This meant that it was unquestionably genuine; now, everything hinged on whether Colton would agree.

Lindy let out a derisive sneer. “As if Colton has the time or energy for this.”

Already nursing a headache, Lindy’s disgust intensified as she saw Melany’s pitiful, wronged expression.

“Are you exploiting my illness to speak to me that way, hoping Colton will side with you afterward?”

“Lindy, how could you say something like that?” Melany placed her hands over her stomach, her head bowing as tears welled in her eyes. “I swear on my baby, what I’m saying is true. I never had any intention of targeting you.”

“You!” Lindy shot Melany a furious glare.

It was obvious to her that Melany was putting on an act to play the victim.

“Colton, look at the way Melany’s speaking to your mother! She’s clearly trying to provoke me!”

Colton had no desire to get entangled in the subtle power struggle between Lindy and Melany.

He opened his mouth, his expression dark and brooding. “Both of you, stop it.”

He frowned deeply as he turned his gaze to Melany. “I’ll send someone to investigate in Vrining.”

Even though he wasn’t sure whether the information was accurate or not, at this critical juncture, he had no choice but to clutch at straws. Therefore, verifying it seemed like the best course of action.

Colton held back his frustration, his tone steady but firm.

“I don’t care how much you two dislike each other. You’ll both have to set that aside for now.”

His words left no room for argument.

Melany’s voice softened, a hint of vulnerability laced in her tone. “Colton, I would never do anything to harm Lindy. You’ve been working so hard these past few days. I’ll make sure we don’t do anything to cause unnecessary trouble for you.”

Her delicate act was almost flawless, but Lindy could see through the facade. Fury simmered just beneath the surface as Lindy clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.

Yet, she swallowed her anger and turned away, shutting her eyes to avoid looking at Melany altogether.

Meanwhile, Colton pulled out his phone and dialed his secretary.

“Check if there’s a perfume factory called Diamond Feather in Vrining. I need to know if it has had any recent business activity.”
