Chapter 1229:

It was painfully obvious that he had never truly let Allison go.

Before Melany could speak further, Kellan cast her a dismissive glance. “Allison and I have very few friends. Not just anyone qualifies.”

Ignoring Melany, Allison maintained her composed demeanor and turned to Lizzie.

“Regarding the collaboration Mr. Morgan mentioned—”

But before she could finish, Lizzie interrupted her. “You must be Ms. Clarke? Fabian mentioned you before. But today, no matter who wants to talk about the collaboration, it has to be postponed.” Lizzie let out a weary sigh.

It was clear that the four people in the room weren’t on the best terms. They all seemed equally determined to win her favor.

Yet even with gratitude toward her savior, she knew that some decisions couldn’t be rushed.

“Let’s schedule another day for this discussion. After all, I’m injured and need some peace to recover quickly.”

After the accident earlier, Lizzie knew her focus was scattered. Today simply wasn’t the right time for business discussions.

When Melany heard about the rescheduling, she wasted no time and interjected smoothly, “Miss Bellinger, our company also deals in the perfume business.”

She seized the opportunity with calculated precision.

“We are a renowned brand in Ontdale. Compared to a corporate giant like Dibya Group, we can certainly offer a much better price.” Her words were deliberate, spoken in Vesperan, Vrining’s language, a strategic choice meant to exclude Allison from the conversation.

Lizzie paused thoughtfully after hearing this, her expression unreadable. But she gave no clear response.

Believing that Lizzie was beginning to waver, Melany pressed on. She lowered her voice further, still speaking in Vesperan, careful to keep Allison out of earshot.

“Miss Bellinger, Allison represents the Dibya Group, so you can imagine their cut will be exorbitantly high…”

Before she could finish, however, a soft chuckle from Allison cut through the air. It was as if she had just overheard the punchline of an inside joke.

“Melany, you may have misunderstood us. Although we represent Dibya Group, there is no middleman taking a cut.” She spoke in flawless Vesperan too. “Mr. Morgan values us greatly and firmly believes that if we secure this deal, we will be rewarded with a corresponding share of the profit. While smaller brands may boast better prices, a collaboration between Aröme Tower and Diamond Feather holds immense significance. Such a partnership would undoubtedly leave a profound impact on the entire perfume industry in Vrining.”

Melany froze, stunned into silence. She had never expected Allison to understand her words.

She had assumed that Allison didn’t understand Vesperan. She hadn’t expected her to speak it so fluently.

Fighting to maintain her composure, Melany forced a tight, strained smile. “Allison, you’re from Ontdale too. Surely, you aren’t short of money. Why do you feel the need to climb the corporate ladder and suppress smaller perfume brands?”
