Chapter 1230:

Melany wore a look of deep dismay as she continued, “I understand Mr. Morgan is impressive, but Ontdale is still your home. We should always give back to where we came from.”

Allison scoffed. “Perfume knows no limits. Supporting our homeland doesn’t mean we should settle for poor-quality fragrances.”

She paused briefly and glanced at Lizzie before continuing, “Besides, partnering with Mr. Morgan will help perfume grow in Ontdale. Miss Johnson, why aren’t you speaking Vesperan now? Can you only say a few words?”

“You!” Melany’s face twisted with anger.

“Alright, please don’t quarrel. I think I know why you’re here.” Lizzie cut into the conversation. “I’m not in a condition to keep discussing business right now. Let’s pick it up once I feel better.”

Melany realized that she had to stay calm, so she held back her feelings. “Miss Bellinger, please don’t worry. We were just having a casual talk.”

Melany then turned her attention back to Allison. “Allison, why don’t you and Mr. Lloyd head out for now? Miss Bellinger needs to rest after the accident.”

A sly smile played on her lips as she continued, “I never thought I’d be the one to help Miss Bellinger today. But once you start helping someone, you have to see it through. So Colton and I will stay and take care of her.”

Allison glanced at Melany with a lazy look.

“I like to be helpful too, so I’ve already sent someone to look into the details of the accident.”

Allison always felt there was more to it than met the eye. By saying this, she was testing Melany’s reaction.

“When this is all cleared up, I’ll bring a gift and sit down for a proper chat with Miss Bellinger.”

Melany’s face shifted when she heard that. “Allison, you’re so thoughtful, but the accident happened in a secluded spot. I doubt you’ll find any footage from security cameras.” Her nails dug into her palm without her noticing.

“And I’ve already had people look into it. They’ll contact me immediately when there’s some news. You don’t need to worry about this,” she added.

Melany couldn’t afford to let Allison uncover the truth.

She had staged the accident on purpose to give Colton his chance — they played the role of kind passersby to send Lizzie to the hospital.

Lizzie furrowed her brow as she heard that.

“I never thought someone would be so careless in broad daylight, letting their brakes fail and crashing into me. Thankfully, it wasn’t serious, or I wouldn’t have been able to lie here and talk with you.” Lizzie’s frustration was clear as she spoke. “If I catch the hit-and-run driver, I’ll make sure they end up in jail.”

Her words made Melany feel a sudden pang of nervousness.

To shift the focus, Melany tried to steer the conversation elsewhere. “Miss Bellinger, it seems like fate brought us together today. My husband knows the best doctor in Ontdale. How about we head there for treatment?”

Allison let out a soft laugh. “Miss Johnson, do you really think Ontdale’s medical care can compete with the top facilities in Vrining?” Even Kellan shot her a look of mockery.
