Chapter 1244:

Geltay sneered. “So what?”

The tension in the air thickened.

Before Allison could say anything, the sound of footsteps approached from behind. Melany’s voice rang out. “Hello, Mr. Norwood. We’re also here to assist Miss Bellinger in finalizing her order.”

She and Colton had also changed into sportswear, though their outfits didn’t look nearly as comfortable as Allison’s and Kellan’s. Their status wasn’t quite as high, and their attire reflected that.

As soon as Allison’s and Kellan’s gazes met Melany’s and Colton’s, an unspoken friction passed between them.

Unaware of the charged atmosphere, Colton and Melany walked straight toward Geltay. With her signature sweet smile, Melany made the introductions. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Norwood. Allow me to introduce ourselves. This is my husband, Colton Stevens, president of the Stevens Group. You can trust us to execute this order flawlessly.”

Colton frowned slightly. He knew the Stevens Group’s reputation wasn’t that great. Charisma Company, on the other hand, was far more reputable and renowned worldwide.

Sure enough, as soon as Melany finished speaking, murmurs of disdain rippled through Geltay’s group.

“Who do they think they are?”

“Stevens Group? Never heard of it.”

“Negotiating business with such an unknown company is simply a disgrace to us.”

“Desperate nobodies trying to latch onto someone important.”

The local dialect made it difficult for Melany to catch every word, but she didn’t need a translation. The condescending looks spoke volumes.

Damn it. She realized she had been too hasty.

Forcing herself to stay composed, she decided to steer the conversation in her favor. “My Vesperan is quite strong. If you’d prefer, we can communicate in Vesperan.”

Colton stepped forward, his expression serious. “I admit, we were a bit abrupt earlier. But please trust that we can meet your standards as business partners.”

Geltay let out a slow, arrogant sneer, scanning Melany and Colton from head to toe. “Pathetic. A nobody always wants to curry favor with somebody.”

There was no subtlety in his insult. He wasn’t even pretending to consider their proposal.

Allison could tell that Geltay was mocking Melany for overestimating herself and dismissing the Stevens Group as insignificant. No wonder Lizzie had warned her—Geltay was a tough one.

“Alright, let me be clear,” Geltay said, his patience thinning. “I have zero interest in discussing business with any of you. Go back where you came from.”

He looked at them with disdain. “And tell Miss Bellinger that if she can’t drag herself out of that hospital bed and come to me personally, our deal is off the table.”

With that, he waved them off dismissively. “Piss off! I’ve always despised Ontdale.”
