Chapter 1255:
âMr. Norwood, I assume youâll be keeping your promise now?â
As soon as Allison spoke, a wave of tension swept through the crowd. She had won the bet, yes â but no one had ever seen Geltay bow to anyone. This person was the embodiment of arrogance. The air grew heavy.
Melany smirked, ready to enjoy the spectacle. She didnât expect Allison to be so foolish, actually asking Geltay to apologize in public. Surely, this would only anger this proud and arrogant businessman.
But Geltay proved to be far less unreasonable than anticipated. He let out a quiet chuckle.
âMs. Clarke, I must admit, youâve got both guts and skill.â He spread his hands in an easy, almost amused manner. âIâm not the type to go back on my word. I wonât deny that I once looked down on Ontdale, thinking its people were deceitful, scheming, and utterly incompetent. That was my mistake. I let my prejudices cloud my judgment. And today, Iâve paid the price for that arrogance. Ms. Clarke, I will honor my promise. The order is now yours.â
Gasps rippled through the businessmen who had long followed Geltay. They knew him well â he was a man who almost never apologized.
But soon, they realized that it wasnât entirely impossible. After all, golf was his obsession, and Allison had crushed him in his own domain. No wonder he admitted defeat so easily.
Melany, unwilling to let an opportunity slip, quickly stepped forward with a practiced smile. âMr. Norwood, you have quite the discerning eye.â She sidled closer, her tone dripping with flattery. âWe came here with Ms. Clarke, and weâre also from Ontdale. If you wouldnât mindâ¦â
In the grand scheme of things, whether Geltay did business with Allison or her made little difference. All she had to do was attach her name to the deal. That was the proposition she intended to make.
But before she could finish her words, Geltay directly cut her off without hesitation, saying, âWhat? Do you two also want to bet with me?â

Melany and Colton stiffened. This was a direct rejection, full of disdain.
Melany forced a tight-lipped smile. âOf course not.â Neither of them had the skill â or the nerve â to gamble with him.
Geltay didnât spare Colton or Melany a second glance. Without hesitation, he reached for the document in Allisonâs hands and, with a swift, practiced motion, signed his name across the page â bold and unwavering.
âMs. Clarke, I look forward to working with you.â
âMr. Geltay, the feeling is mutual. I admire your capabilities as well.â Allisonâs lips curved into a polite smile. âThen we wonât take up any more of your time. Miss Bellinger is waiting for me.â
With her objective secured, she saw no reason to linger. Satisfied, Allison turned on her heel, leaving with Kellan at her side.
When they arrived at the hospital, they spotted Lizzie on the phone, her laughter light and cheerful.
âIâm glad to hear that. Ms. Clarke and Mr. Lloyd are here handling things with me, and weâre eager to collaborate further.â
As she ended the call, she looked up and noticed Allison and Kellan standing at the door.
