Chapter 1262:

The thought propelled Drucker to lunge for Kellan’s phone, but Allison quickly stuck her foot out and tripped him. Drucker stumbled and fell face-first onto the floor.

“Bitch! How dare you trip me?” he spat, whirling around to glare at Allison, still struggling to catch his breath.

It was then that Fabian stepped forward. “Enough, Drucker! I’ve been holding back for years, but I can’t take any more of this!” He was livid. “Drucker, I heard you sent my secretary a private email, saying you’d halt this farce of an investigation if Aröme Tower paid you seven hundred thousand. Is that true?”

A nervous look passed over Drucker’s face, but he forced himself to stay calm, trying to defend himself. “Private emails are automatically deleted after they’re read. You have no concrete proof. It’s just a rumor!”

“It’s not,” Allan interjected. “Dibya Group is a multinational corporation. Every checkpoint must be verified repeatedly, and this applies to private emails within the system.”

Fabian had kept this particular detail a secret, waiting for the perfect moment to deliver a fatal blow.

He had expected Drucker to stir up trouble within the company, then leave, but he hadn’t anticipated that Drucker would go this far.

Drucker gaped at Allan and Fabian, looking like he was about to have a seizure. Then he turned to the other investigators and started cursing at them. “What the hell are you looking at, you imbeciles? Let’s go!” He couldn’t leave fast enough. “I’ll be speaking to the mayor about this! Dibya Group will be taught a lesson!”

No sooner had he finished spewing his threats than he found Allison standing in his path.

“Isn’t there an easier way we can do this?” she asked with an oddly pleasant smile. “Why don’t you call the mayor right now? If he personally orders you to apprehend Miss Wilson, I can safely say that no one here will stop you.”

“The mayor?” Drucker echoed in a pathetic voice.

A horrible realization struck him then.

Coming to Aröme Tower to find fault with them today was not based on any official documents. It was simply the mayor’s subtle hint. There was no way the mayor would back him up on this openly. The thought had Drucker swallowing audibly. “Mayor Lewis doesn’t have time to deal with the likes of you.”

Allison tilted her head slightly, her sharp gaze locking onto Drucker. “You can choose not to call the mayor now. That’s fine. But Mr. Foster, we won’t hesitate to spread the evidence of your bribery far and wide.”

Drucker’s fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. “You just wait.”

He had no idea who this woman was, but he noticed that she clearly wasn’t afraid of the mayor’s power. That was unsettling. Still, rather than let his name get dragged through the mud, Drucker figured it was better to have the mayor step in and handle her for him.

Taking a deep breath, Drucker pulled out his phone and dialed the mayor. Yet even as he did, a gnawing sense of unease settled in his stomach. After all, the Dibya Group wasn’t just some small business — it was a corporate giant in Vrining. If something drastic happened to it, tens of thousands of jobs would be affected. This wasn’t a minor issue.

Would the mayor really be willing to back him up? Drucker couldn’t say for sure. Today was supposed to be an opportunity for him to stir up trouble, but he hadn’t expected to be outmaneuvered like this.
