Chapter 1263:

With no other choice, he grit his teeth and dialed the mayor’s private phone number. “Mayor Lewis, it’s Drucker.”

The room fell into an eerie silence. No one so much as breathed.

Allison’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “Mr. Foster, be a dear and put it on speaker. We have quite a bit to say to the mayor ourselves.”

“Sure, but you’ll regret this.” Without hesitation, Drucker switched to speakerphone. “Mayor Lewis, the Dibya Group has brought in two nobodies out of nowhere, and they’re openly defying your orders.”

On the other end, Milady sounded impatient. “What are you rambling about? Get to the point.”

“I’m saying—”

Before Drucker could twist the narrative in his favor, Allison’s voice cut through. “Mayor Lewis, this is Allison, executive of Aröme Tower.” Her voice carried both grace and authority.

“Today, Mr. Foster barged into Aröme Tower unannounced, throwing around baseless accusations. He even attempted to detain innocent perfumers working here, claiming it was under your direct orders. Is that true?”

As she spoke, she raised her phone, recording the conversation. Others quickly followed suit, their cameras capturing every moment. This evidence would be invaluable.

Drucker’s face darkened. “That’s nonsense! I never said that!” Allison’s smile only deepened.

“Then, Mayor Lewis, are you aware of today’s so-called ‘inspection’ at Aröme Tower?”

Her question was a trap, baiting both Drucker and the mayor. Drucker had counted on the mayor to intimidate them, but instead, he was the one being backed into a corner.

Milady, no fool himself, immediately caught on. But he wouldn’t fall for it so easily. Instead, he let out a short laugh, his tone dripping with condescension.

“Miss, if you truly are the executive of Aröme Tower, I suggest you fetch the president of your company. Have him speak to me directly.” His tone exuded arrogance.

It was a blatant dismissal, a clear sign that he didn’t consider her worth his time.

Allison, unfazed, let out a soft scoff.

“Of course. My rank is beneath yours, and in ordinary circumstances, I wouldn’t have the honor of speaking with you directly. But since Mr. Foster decided to invoke your name — going so far as to claim you’d personally sign a lockdown order to shut down Aröme Tower. Therefore, I must ask: what exactly is your relationship with Mr. Foster? Since when does he have the authority to order you around?” She sounded innocent, but the accusation was unmistakable.

A bead of sweat rolled down Drucker’s temple. Too many eyes were on him. He couldn’t outright deny her claim, so he tried to backpedal.

“Mayor Lewis, I did mention it, but that’s not how I meant it. I was only saying—”

But before he could finish, Milady cut him off. “Nonsense!”

The mayor’s eyes narrowed, his mind working quickly. Soon, he pieced the situation together. Drucker had blundered, drawing unwanted attention to something that should have remained behind closed doors. And now, this fool was expecting him to clean up his mess!
