Chapter 1264:
The matter of shutting down Aröme Tower should not have been made public, and his name, as the mayor, shouldnât have been involved. Milady knew that he couldnât admit it, no matter what.
âDrucker, is what she said true? How can you use my name to threaten people?â Milady harshly reprimanded Drucker. With that, he not only scolded Drucker but also distanced himself from the entire affair.
Then, as if flipping a switch, he changed his tone to something far more diplomatic. âAröme Tower is a key enterprise protected by the government, and the Dibya Group has always been a valued partner. How could you just bring people to slander them?â
To anyone unaware of the truth, it would almost sound as if he truly cared.
Drucker, however, was stunned. This was the same mayor who had given him orders, yet now, he was acting as though he had nothing to do with it and was completely unaware of this matter. But with so many people present, Drucker had no choice but to swallow his frustration.
âIâm sorry. It was so thoughtless of me. I shouldnât have involved you in this.â Still, he wasnât ready to give up entirely. âBut Mayor Lewis, this is a routine inspection.â
By saying this, he was subtly pushing for the mayor to use his authority to suppress Allison and the others. But to his shock, Milady didnât take his side at all. Instead, the mayor shut him down completely.
âDrucker, you have really disappointed me.â Then, his voice softened.
Once again, he adopted the polished tone of a composed and benevolent leader. To anyone unaware of the truth, it sounded as if he had the companyâs best interests at heart.
âMiss, there must be some misunderstanding. There is no way Aröme Tower has any violations â I can personally guarantee that.â As he spoke, he took a slow sip of his coffee, his demeanor relaxed but calculated.
He knew that Fabian was definitely listening on the other end of the line. And so, he played his part flawlessly.

âWhat happened today was simply the result of my subordinateâs carelessness. Perhaps he was⦠too hasty in his actions. Mr. Morgan and I have a longstanding friendship. If our schedules align, perhaps we should sit down for a drink and clear up any misunderstandings.â His tone was light, but his words carried an unmistakable weight. âMr. Morgan, I wonder what you think?â
âMayor Lewis, it is truly an honor. But since this is all just a misunderstanding, shouldnât you clarify the reason behind these relentless investigations into Aröme Tower?â Fabian said smoothly, though his gaze was anything but warm, no longer pretending to be as friendly to Milady as he had been.
He had always known this man wasnât as simple as he appeared. Still, he hadnât expected todayâs situation to spiral like this. And now, he was done tolerating it.
âJust today, Mr. Foster sealed off Aröme Tower. People who donât know the full story might get the wrong impression.â
Allison, her voice even, added, âThis will also impact Dibya Groupâs business. I believe you wouldnât just stand by and let that happen, Mayor Lewis.â
Their words left Milady with little room to maneuver. But he had no choice but to agree â at least for now. It wasnât the right time to burn bridges. First, he had to put Fabian at ease.
âAlright,â Milady said with a forced smile. âBut Iâve been busy lately. Since this issue stems from Drucker, how about I have him explain everything to the media? After that, Iâll personally sign the order for his dismissal.â
