Chapter 1267:

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” Allison responded.

They shared a silent understanding as they moved toward the building’s interior, positioning themselves between the elevator and the fire stairs.

Recalling Yasha’s earlier tip, Allison pointed at the fire stairs. “Let’s head this way. They’re probably hiding something down here.”

Kellan replied, “Okay.”

Worried about being noticed, they quickly changed into black outfits and fitted themselves with night-vision contact lenses to navigate in the dark.

She and Kellan climbed the fire stairs, their footsteps unusually loud in the quiet building. To avoid raising any alarms, they moved slowly, making sure the sound of footsteps was inaudible.

Just as Allison reached the second floor, a door slammed shut with a loud bang from below.

Bang!

The sound was unmistakable.

Allison instantly recognized that it was the fire door on the first floor, a sign that someone had just entered from outside. “Shh…” she whispered, and she and Kellan melted into the darkness.

Not far away, several figures gradually appeared.

They didn’t even bother to check if anyone was around and were talking openly and carelessly on the fire stairs.

“Mr. Lewis said Aröme Tower is now completely sealed off, and no one can break in,” one of them said.

“That’s good. We can move forward without worry,” another replied.

“Let’s go. There’s a passage to the basement here.”

“Then open it quickly and get rid of that woman as soon as possible,” came a chilling command.

Allison’s heart skipped a beat at the words.

Exchanging a quick, determined glance with Kellan, she swiftly drew a small dagger from her waist.

“Let’s head down and take a look,” she said in a low voice.

“If my guess is correct, we should be close to uncovering the secret,” she added, barely above a whisper.

Kellan nodded in the dark.

“Let’s go. I’ll cover you to the first floor.”

Their silent understanding needed no further explanation; a single look was enough for them to grasp each other’s intent.

Moving in coordinated silence, they pressed deeper into the darkness. As they neared the basement, a series of electronic beeps signaled that a door on the first floor had just opened.

The group of men in black sneered.
