Chapter 1270:
âThis stubborn woman would rather fight than settle this peacefully.â The leader curled his lip in disgust. Fury burned in his eyes. âGet over here and blast this reinforced electronic door open!â
They had come well-equipped. Explosives were part of their plan. No matter how strong the door was, it wouldnât stand a chance. The explosion would draw attention from others in Aröme Tower, but that didnât matter. The mayor had assured them that everything was under control. There was only one goal â get the chip, no matter what.
âYes, sir!â The men in black obeyed without hesitation.
Within moments, they sprang into action.
Bang!
The explosion shook the air with a thunderous roar. Thick smoke and shattered debris swirled everywhere. The white electronic door was gone, revealing the bare wall behind it.
âMs. Atkinson, why donât you come out?â The leaderâs voice dripped with arrogance. âOr donât blame me if you donât leave here in one piece.â He was certain that he had won.
Allisonâs fists tightened. Her sharp eyes stayed locked on the scene. She was poised to strike.
Just then, a figure emerged from the dimly lit lab.
Allisonâs breath caught in her throat. She stood frozen in shock.
A woman stepped forward. She wore plain white sneakers, black pants, and a lab coat smudged with soot and grime. Her clothes were messy, but she moved with quiet confidence. Despite everything, she looked utterly composed.
As she came into view, her features became clear. It was Lilyana. Her gaze swept over the intruders, her face unreadable. âEven if you kill me, you wonât get what youâre after.â

Allison couldnât look away. Her eyes stayed locked on that familiar face. Lilyanaâs hair was cut into a sleek, shoulder-length bob. Her delicate features bore a striking resemblance to Allisonâs. Her eyebrows were finely shaped, her eyes sharp and captivating.
But a long scar cut across that beauty, a cruel reminder of battles past. The scar ran from her right eye to the bridge of her nose, jagged and unforgiving.
Before Allison could react, the leader let out a mocking laugh. âWhether we get what we came for depends on our skills.â
His grin twisted into something cruel. âMs. Atkinson, your courage is impressive, but still, Iâll be taking your life.â
The moment the words left his mouth, his men lunged at Lilyana.
Allison didnât hesitate. She moved like lightning. Her dagger flashed, an extension of her own will. With a swift, deadly arc, she cut through flesh. Blood sprayed. Bodies fell.
A voice rang out in the chaos. âWhat are you doing? Youâre a traitor?â Flashlights snapped toward her, beams locking onto her form. But before they could react, she raised her hand. In a split second, the entire room plunged into darkness.
The basement sank into total darkness. At that exact moment, the security door to the first floor slid open.
