Chapter 1295:
Allisonâs vision blurred. A light drizzle began to fall, the wispy drops of rain chilly against her face.
She took a deep breath and swallowed the pain in her right leg. She needed to go back.
When she returned to the spot, she found that Kellan had completely passed out.
Allison couldnât do much else besides dragging him back to the cave. She grabbed some fruits and squeezed their juices into a makeshift bowl she had fashioned from a leaf.
âDrink this, Kellan.â She held it against his lips.
It wouldnât completely neutralize the snakeâs venom, but it could buy Kellanâs immune system some time.
âYou promised me that we would go on a beach vacation together, remember? We have a lot to catch up on about the past. If you die on me out here, I can never forgive myself.â
Allison kept talking. Now and then, she would try to wake him up, to no avail.
She had no idea how much time had passed before Kellan finally managed to open his eyes. However, his pupils were dilated and seemed out of focus at the same time.
He drank the fruit juice, which helped ease the burning sensation in his throat.
âDid you contact them?â Kellanâs voice was extremely hoarse as soon as he spoke.
âYes, I called Fabian. Theyâre coming for us. Theyâll be here soon.â
Allison grasped his hand tightly. âLetâs hold on a bit longer, okay?â
Kellan forced a feeble smile. âAllison, if I actually die here⦠Donât be sad. Donât blame yourself. I never regretted my actions, not once.â

âStop. I donât want to hear any of that,â Allison whispered, her eyes brimming with tears.
âIf you dare to die here, then I shall completely forget about you,â she declared in a trembling voice.
Before she knew it, her tears were streaming down her face and soaking Kellanâs clothes.
She felt as though both of their souls were burning in the same agonizing fire.
âDonât cry, Allison.â Kellan reached up and cupped her face, pressing a kiss to her lips.
Kellanâs eyes met Allisonâs, a storm of emotions swirling between them, too complex to name.
The crackling campfire beside them cast long shadows on the stone wall, their figures overlapping in the flickering glow.
Kellanâs voice was low and rough. âIf we get out of here, will you marry me, Allison?â
Allisonâs throat tightened at his words. She looked up, eyes glistening.
âIs this your proposal?â She fought to steady herself.
But the tears kept falling.
âKellan, this proposal doesnât count. You have to find a public event, wear a nice suit, and kneel on one knee to propose to me.â She had been through a failed marriage before. She had thought that happiness was out of reach, but fate had led her to Kellan.
