Chapter 1300:
Outside the door, Lilyana and Fabian quietly walked away.
âWhat do you think of that boy, Kellan?â Lilyana whispered. âTheyâve been through so much.â
Fabian nodded. âHeâs a solid man. Just the fact that he protected our daughter with his lifeâI respect him.â Lilyana smiled in agreement.
âIt hasnât been easy. But at least, itâs over now.â
She only hoped that the future would be brighter for the two of them.
Half a month later, Allison was preoccupied with her rehabilitation exercises.
âHere you go, Allison,â Gordon said, smiling as he handed her a bottle of water. âYouâre finally getting to the finish line. Youâve really made a lot of progress these last few days.â
Allisonâs brows furrowed slightly. She and Kellan had been undergoing separate rehabilitation in the hospital, and apart from Rebecca, it was Gordon who frequently came to visit her. In fact, he came almost every day, just bringing her water. Allison had refused his advances numerous times, but he was too stubborn to give up. So this time, she decided to nip it in the bud once and for all.
âGordon,â Allison said in a serious tone, âI only see you as a friend of mine, nothing more. You know it, donât you? I donât mean to embarrass you, but I think we need to make it clear.â
She understood his feelingsâshe really did. That was why she knew more clearly that some things had to be emphasized.
Gordonâs face predictably fell in disappointment, but he managed to nod. âYes, I know it all the time.â
He had tried so hard to keep it light and breezy, but Allison had seen through his act.

Gordonâs hands slowly balled into fists. âI just⦠I just feel unwilling, I guess. I canât accept it.â
After all, he had met Allison first. They had also gone through numerous crises together. Despite being such a free-spirited person, Gordon was always grounded and sensible when it came to Allison. Why couldnât she give him a chance?
Was Kellan really that good?
He just couldnât understand it. The Lloyd Group didnât even come close to the Herbert family in terms of wealth or power.
Gordon stifled the surge of possessiveness that took over his heart. He mustered a smile in a bid to act nonchalant.
âYou should know that I donât mind even if you get married, Allison. Iâll do anything you want me to. So, donât be so hasty to reject me, okay?â Gordon had always possessed a youthful charm, which was amplified whenever he smiled. He looked very innocent and somewhat vulnerable.
âAnyway, letâs not talk about this for now. Why donât we go grab a bite to eat?â he offered.
Unfortunately for him, Allison wasnât about to let him change the subject.
She could tell that Gordon was consumed by his feelings and couldnât think straight. She had tried not to be too harsh with him before because she still valued their friendship. But now, she didnât see any other way to make herself clear.
âLook, Gordon. We can be friends, but if you insist on something that crosses that line, then we may as well become strangers.â Allison looked into his eyes to make sure he was getting the message. âYou understand what Iâm saying, right? And you know what my personality is like. When I say Iâd do it, I definitely will.â
