Chapter 1317:
âIf you hadnât deceived me in the first place, Allison and I wouldnât have ended up like this!â
âYou really believe Iâm the only one to blame?â
Melanyâs face flushed red, and she could barely breathe.
Yet, she kept laughing wildly. Her sharp words tore away Coltonâs facade.
âIf I hadnât done it, someone else wouldâve fooled you just the same. And Allison? She left because you never valued her. You never trusted her! This is exactly what you deserve, Colton!â
The moment those words left her mouth, his grip on her throat tightened.
She could barely make a sound. Tears streamed down her face. She could tell that Colton had lost his mind â he truly meant to end her!
Now she was on the verge of being sent to prison. The thought of her life being completely destroyed filled her with unbearable pain.
Maybe it was better if he just ended her life now.
Melany laughed until tears ran down her cheeks.
âIf you really have the nerve⦠then⦠just do it⦠kill meâ¦â
She couldnât understand how she had lost to Allison.
That woman had nothing but rich parents and a cushy life, yet here she was, acting all high and mighty.
Melany shut her eyes, ready to embrace the end.
But suddenly, Coltonâs grip loosened. A second later, he shoved her to the floor.
âCough.â
Melany wheezed and coughed, desperate for air.

In the glass cabinet beside her, she caught a clear glimpse of herself â messy, broken.
The sight filled her with bitter resentment.
âI wonât let you die that easily.â
Coltonâs voice was cold as ice. He stood over her, watching without a shred of pity.
âMelany, your parents may have fled overseas with the money, but it wonât last. Once the evidence surfaces, theyâll be dragged back. And you? Youâll have all the time in the world to think things over in prison. Soon, everyone will know the truth.â
â âYour familyâs scam, the fake marriage, the lies. The whole world will hear about it.â
Melany heard his words and refused to give up. She tried to push herself up.
âColton, you canât do this to me!â
But before she could say anything else, she saw Colton wave his hand.
His assistant, standing nearby, quickly approached and held her down.
âTake her to the police station.â
âUnderstood.â The assistant obeyed without hesitation.
Once Melany was dealt with, he returned to Colton.
âMr. Stevens, the bank just contacted us. They said we should prepare for bankruptcy. All your properties will be seized.â
Colton had seen this coming. None of it surprised him.
He sat alone in the dark, his figure swallowed by shadows.
At this point, there was no one left beside him.
His mother had fled with her lover. His grandfather had given up on him long ago. Even the woman who once shared his bed was now behind bars â because of him. How had everything come to this?
