Chapter 387:

If the plan were exposed, she had no powerful connections to shield her from the consequences.
âLetâs not rush into anything so drastic,â she said, trying to reason with him. âI have a better plan.â
She explained, âIâve arranged for someone to enter the race. Theyâll use some underhanded tactics to win. Once we get the prize, weâll have leverage over Kellan without resorting to such extremes.â
From the beginning, Melany didnât harbor any deep hatred for Kellan. His constant rejections had merely bruised her pride.
If she couldnât have him, she wanted to destroy him. âIf my person fails, then you can go ahead with the bomb plan.â
She was determined.
If this madman truly went through with it, sheâd cut ties with him for good.
Hoyt considered her idea and nodded slowly, his rage still simmering beneath the surface. âFine. But one way or another, heâs going to pay.â
Just as the race started, Melany slipped back into the audience area.
At that moment, all eyes were glued to the two leading drivers of Group B. Even Colton found himself unusually engrossed in the spectacle unfolding on the track.
âColton, Iâm back,â Melany announced, her voice tinged with a hint of guilt. She settled beside him, playfully clinging to his arm in an attempt to capture his attention. âIâve never seen such an exhilarating race before. Iâm really curious to see who will come out on top,â she remarked, trying to make casual conversation. However, Colton seemed preoccupied, a frown creasing his forehead as he grappled with his thoughts.
âTurbo and Sweety have the best chances of winning,â he finally replied.
Colton had always enjoyed the adrenaline rush of high-speed races, especially car racing. This was a thrill that resonated with many men.
He was well aware that Turbo was a seasoned racer with multiple consecutive championships under his belt.
But today held a surprise.
Squinting at the track, he explained to Melany in a measured tone, âTurbo clearly has incredible endurance, but that woman, Sweety, possesses an astonishing burst of speed.â
Initially, when Turbo appeared, the crowdâs bets overwhelmingly favored him.
Even Colton hadnât paid much attention to the newcomer named Sweety, assuming she was just another participant without much impact.
But to everyoneâs astonishment, she accelerated rapidly right from the start.
Her drifting techniques, which would typically be nerve-wracking, were executed with effortless precision every single time.
âIs that so? Thatâs impressive,â Melany responded, her tone agreeable yet devoid of genuine interest.
Her mind was elsewhere, fixated on whether the man in black she had secretly arranged could clinch the championship.
Though his reckless driving had disrupted several racers, he couldnât keep pace with Turbo or Sweety, who were leading the pack.
It was a letdown.
