Chapter 414:

She didnât hesitate. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulled him closer and met his lips in a deep, deliberate kiss. âThatâs because it wasnât enough.â
Outside, the storm raged on, the wind howling like a beast, and the rain lashed at the windows. But inside, between them, there was only warmthâa cocoon of heat and tenderness that neither wanted to escape.
The night stretched on, and they remained intertwined, lost in each other, until the first light of dawn pierced the horizon.
By the time Allison drifted into a deep sleep, the world around her blurred. She didnât notice when Kellan scooped her up and carried her into the bathroom. She didnât register the warm water or the soft towel as she was washed and redressed. She was too tired to process it all.
Morning came, bringing with it a rare clarity. The sky had cleared, washed clean by the storm, but Allison was still asleep, too tired to rise. It was already noon when she finally stirred.
Her body ached all over, and she was so hungry she felt like she could devour an entire cow. Yet, the one responsible for her fatigue had vanished.
Descending the stairs, she was greeted by Jim, Kellanâs loyal housekeeper. âMs. Clarke, Mr. Lloyd had me prepare lunch for you,â he said with a warm, knowing smile.
Allison glanced around the empty living room. âWhere is he?â
Jim chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling with amusement. âAn urgent matter came up at the company. He left early but made sure Iâd take good care of you.â

At his age, Jim had a sharp sense of understanding, clearly aware of the unspoken intimacy from the night before. And he seemed pleased. As if Kellanâs rare display of affection had been a long time coming.
Jim led her to the dining table, pulling out a chair. âThe dishes were prepared based on your preferences before he left. Iâve just reheated them.â
Unable to refuse Jimâs hospitality, Allison sat down.
The dishes were reminiscent of the ones Kellan had cooked for herâartfully arranged, with enticing aromas wafting through the air.
âHe really is⦠something,â she muttered, half to herself, feeling the affection.
After finishing her meal, she decided to leave the Lloyd Mansion by taxi, politely turning down Jimâs offer of a driver. Some things were best handled alone. There were parts of her life that even Kellan couldnât be privy to.
When she arrived, she found Amya already waiting. âBoss, Iâm so glad youâre okay. Did you hear about the explosion yesterday?â
Amya had heard from Gordon the night before that Allison had escaped unharmed, but seeing her in person brought a deeper sense of reassurance.
Allison gave a nod. âI know. It doesnât concern us, so we wonât get involved.â
âWhere are we going now?â Amya asked, following close behind.
âBack to our world.â
They moved through the winding, secret passageways of the Muisvedo, the underground realm known only to those who operated in the shadows. As they walked, Amyaâs wonder grew, her eyes wide with fascination.
