Chapter 468:

Kellan clenched his jaw, and his voice slipped out low and cold. âGet lost.â
Unfazed, Ferdinand shrugged, settling back into his seat with a faint smile. âFine, we wonât talk about her.â He paused, then regarded Kellan thoughtfully. âBut I was actually planning to drop by your office today to discuss that collaboration we talked about, only to hear you were âunavailable.'â
His eyes narrowed with playful suspicion. âRumor has it you were off entertaining the Perry heiress.â
Kellan scoffed immediately. âSheâs not worthy.â
Ferdinand arched an eyebrow, smirking. âTrue. No one quite measures up to Allison, huh?â
After the silence that followed, Kellanâs voice finally came, raw and edged with something vulnerable. âSheâs leaving. To her, Iâm⦠nothing.â
Ferdinand exhaled, setting his glass down with a sharp clink. âAh, so thatâs it. I knew you were off tonight.â For a moment, he sat back, considering his friend. âYou know, maybe the problem is youâve spoiled her senseless. Put her on a pedestal. Now sheâs got you wrapped under her little finger.â
Kellanâs gaze dropped. âI donât mind it.â
Ferdinand was speechless. He rolled his eyes, fighting the urge to slap some sense into him.
âAnd that right there is your problem! Look, if you want a woman to feel something, you need to shake things up!â He leaned forward with a frustrated exhale. âWomen⦠theyâre always dancing around their feelings. Theyâll say they donât care, but they absolutely do. Itâs in their nature.â
He paused, eyes glinting with an idea. âHereâs a thoughtâtry the jealousy trick. Always works in my book.â
Kellan straightened in his seat, staring hazily at the man. âHuh?â
âStarting tomorrow, cozy up to Carole, make her think twice. See how Allison reacts when someone else seems to catch your attention.â
âDude,â Kellan muttered, âyouâve got to be kidding.â He wasnât having any of it.
Ferdinand chuckled, unfazed by Kellanâs cold glare. âOh, come on, how would you know itâs a bad idea if you havenât tried? This stuff always works in the movies.â With that, he settled back, clearly pleased with himself despite Kellanâs stony silence. After all, he was the CEO of the worldâs largest advertising company and prided himself on the films heâd studied.
A scoff escaped Kellan, but he fell quiet, swirling his tequila.
In his mind, Allisonâs words from earlier echoed back to him, lingering with a sting he hadnât quite shaken. âThe thrill of uncertainty is addictive, but that doesnât make it love.â
Their history had always been a tangled mess of half-truths, fueled by fleeting passions and pleasuresâ a twisted habit to pass the time. But now, more than anything, Kellan knew one thing for certain.
What he truly craved wasnât the ambiguity. It was her.
The next day, in the CEOâs office
Carole entered with a casual, almost presumptive air, her smile a little too practiced. She gave Kellan an expectant glance.
âKellan, why didnât you answer my call last night? We were worried, wondering if something had happened to you.â
