Chapter 474:

Damn! Why couldnât Kellan ever hold a normal conversation? Soon enough, Kellanâs mood shadowed the entire company, leaving everyone on edge.
âI think Mr. Lloydâs been acting⦠different,â whispered one employee. âHe used to ignore certain things, but now heâs suddenly all strict.â
âYouâre telling me? I went in to submit documents yesterday, and it felt like standing next to a freezer!â murmured another.
âYeah, heâs definitely in a bad mood lately.â
Allison overheard the murmurings, but she kept her head down, steadily focusing on her perfume development. This project was something she needed to complete before leaving Ontdale.
Compared to Kellan, Allisonâs mood was calm. In the past few days, sheâd received good news from Gordon. For instance, her motherâs whereabouts had surfaced in Vrining, and, thankfully, it seemed she wasnât connected to the human experimentation labâmeaning her mother was alive.
Better yet, the owner of the earring might know her mother.
Lost in thought, Allison was brought back to the present when Aimee handed her a list of perfume ingredients. âMs. Clarke, hereâs what you requested.â
Since Allison had cleaned up the cliques within the company, Aimee had been promoted. Now, she stood beside Allison like a trusted right hand, shyly offering a soft smile.
âOh, and I brought you a burger. If youâre hungry later, feel free to have it.â
Aimeeâs voice was soft yet steady, though a shy smile lingered on her face.
âThank you,â Allison said, carefully stowing the burger. She smiled, patting Aimeeâs shoulder. âYouâre really coming into your own. Pretty soon, I can leave my tasks in your capable hands.â
Aimee blushed, touched by the words.
âItâs all thanks to you,â she replied.
If it hadnât been for Allison, who had stood by her when she was slandered by office cliques, she might have fallen into despair.
Now, she felt reborn.
However, Allisonâs last words stirred unease within her. Entrusting tasks to her hinted at Allisonâs departure.
No, it couldnât be.
Aimee clenched her fists at the thought.
But when she looked up again, she saw Allison walking away, documents in hand.
âIâm probably just overthinking,â Aimee muttered to herself, watching her leave.
But she wasnât the only one uneasy â she suspected even Kellan would hate to see Allison go.
Meanwhile, Allison, unaware of Aimeeâs concerns, headed off to the marketing department with her documents.
When the elevator doors opened with a soft chime, she stepped forward, not noticing someone in her path until she bumped into him.
