Chapter 584:
âMrs. Stevens, if youâre that eager to gather a crowd, I could easily help with that. Donât make it so complicated.â He gave a slight nod, and in the distance, a few men dressed in dark suits began stepping forward, ready for action.
âMy people are actually nearby.â
His dark eyes held an icy chill, a quiet authority that seemed to freeze anyone who dared meet his stare.
As he moved closer, the tension only suffocated the room.
âOnce the situation heats up, my people can handle the cleanup afterward,â Kellan said.
He trusted Allison to take care of the details, preferring not to interfere in her methods.
But he wasnât naive. One look at Lindy and Melany, and he saw right through their little game. Their act repulsed him.
âWhat kind of people stoop to thisâ¦â
Lindyâs eyes widened in surprise, catching Kellanâs displeasure. Melany followed the manâs gaze, her own turning to the men in black positioned just a few steps away.
They had known Kellan wielded influence, but no one had expected him to bring an entourage for what seemed like a casual day out.
The men looked rough, masked in dark attire. These werenât mere bodyguards. Assassins, she thought. After all, Kellan was such a powerful man.
âNo, Mr. Lloyd, youâve got it wrong,â Melany said, her hands knotting together as she fought to keep her innocent edge. âWe were only concerned about Colton.â
Allison, watching the exchange, allowed a faint smile to touch her lips.
She knew Kellan was lying through his teeth, but his commanding presence made deception feel like an art form. Those men in black werenât just bodyguards â they had been assigned to monitor Rebecca and Ferdinandâs date.
Lindy, unaware of the true situation, grew visibly anxious at Kellanâs words. Her forced smile did little to hide the fear in her eyes.
âYes⦠yes, Mr. Lloyd, we didnât mean anything by it,â she stammered.
Kellanâs reputation preceded him. He was a ruthless beast, relentless with those who dared to cross him.
Tales circulated of an assassin whoâd attempted to challenge him, only to meet a gruesome end overseas within a day. As she stumbled through her words, a shiver crept up Lindyâs spine, her voice shrinking into an awkward murmur. âAllisonâ¦â
Allison stepped forward, looking as cold as usual, stoic and stone.
There was a quiet but unmistakable menace in Allisonâs stance. Lindyâs hand rose reflexively to shield her face, fear flashing in her eyes.
âW-What⦠what are you planning to do?â
âNothing at all. Just reminding you of your limits. If youâre done with your little show, then get out of here.â
