Chapter 631:
Allison took a bite, savoring it with an approving nod. âPerfect. Mr. Lloyd, is there anything you canât do? Youâre a master of both boardrooms and breakfast tables. I think Iâm getting spoiled.â
A slow smile spread across his face as he heard her compliments. âIn that case, Iâll make sure you never find anyone elseâs cooking as good as mine.â
He handed her a glass of warm milk. âDrink up. Fuel for the day ahead. Iâll whip up some cereal, too.â
Allison leaned over and planted a light kiss on the corner of his mouth. âThank you.â
Just then, a loud, relentless banging erupted from outside the villa.
âAllison, come out!â
Startled, she looked toward the electronic screen by the door and saw Carole standing there, arms crossed and a scowl in place, wearing a fitted pencil skirt as if sheâd dressed up just for the confrontation.
Allison let out a resigned sigh, glancing over at Kellan. âWell, Mr. Lloyd, it seems your charms are causing quite the stir.â
Kellanâs normally calm expression darkened, his jaw tightening with irritation. âSheâs really asking for it.â
He frowned, clearly vexed by the intrusion. He couldnât fathom how Carole had tracked them down. As agreed, their collaboration with the Greenfield Group had long since repaid the Perry familyâs past favor, leaving no further obligation. Yet, here was Carole, still trying to win him over. The mere thought that something like this had ruined Allisonâs mood made Kellan want to strangle Carole.

âAllison, Iâm going toââ
However, Allison kissed the corner of his lips. âItâs okay, I can handle it.â
She knew about the old favor Kellan owed to the Perry family, but the engagement had ended years ago. She wasnât the least bit concerned. She was more curious about something else. âNo one should know where we stayed last night.â
Kellan frowned, perplexed. âI didnât tell anyone.â
In fact, even Sherman didnât know where he was for days.
Allison squeezed his hand, a smile tugging at her lips. âI believe you. I know youâd never slip up like that. My guess is Carole got a little help from Lindy and Melany.â
Outside, Carole continued hammering on the door. âOpen up! I know youâre in there, Allison!â
Unruffled, Allison stretched with a nonchalant shrug. âMiss Perry, if youâre so impatient, the door swings both ways â youâre free to leave.â
Then she tilted her head to look at Kellan. The man cut an imposing figure with his broad shoulders, lean waist, and chiseled chest â a sight sheâd rather keep to herself. âMr. Lloyd, why donât you go change? Iâll take care of this.â
He brushed a kiss across her hand. âAlright.â
Moments later, Allison stepped out onto the balcony, a position that offered her a perfect view of the front door where Carole waited below.
