Chapter 650:
âWould you like to see fireworks again?â he asked, his voice a soft murmur.
Allison considered it for a moment, then sighed lightly. âOf course, but it seems unlikely right now.â After all, it was daytime, and where would the fireworks come from?
But Kellanâs eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. âLetâs do it today,â he said, his voice steady, as if he were suggesting the most ordinary of plans.
Allison raised an eyebrow, half convinced he was teasing her. But when he stood up and extended his hand, she set down her coffee, curiosity getting the better of her, and followed him. They headed to the top floor, where he called out to Jim, âJim, open up the room.â
âRight away, sir!â Jim responded with a broad grin, clearly delighted by the sight of Kellan and Allison together. âIâll get everything set up immediately!â
As Jim hurried off, Allison couldnât hide her curiosity. âBut itâs the middle of the day. How are we supposed to see fireworks?â she mused, her brow furrowed in confusion. She knew well enough that fireworks could be launched during the day, but theyâd never be as dazzling under the bright sun.
Kellan simply smiled, his fingers interlacing with hers as he guided her up a spiral staircase that led to the rooftop. âAs long as itâs something you wish for, Iâll make it happen,â he assured her, his voice warm with promise.
Kellan and Allison stepped into the expansive room on the top floor, the largest in the entire building.
âItâs quite spacious,â Allison observed, her eyes sweeping across the space.
Everything was meticulously designed in a monochrome palette. The sleek, black TV wall and sofa, paired with varying shades of gray in the carpet, created a minimalist yet sophisticated atmosphere. Cabinets dotted here and there added accents of white, completing the modern aesthetic. It felt distinctly like Kellanâcool, distant, and meticulously composed.
There was a certain detachment to him, but she knew that once his walls came down, it was easy to get lost in the depths of his passion.
Kellan moved to a control panel and pressed a button. Instantly, the smart home system whirred to life. The heavy curtains slid open, flooding the room with light, while the sofa adjusted itself, transforming into a plush recliner big enough for two. Turning to her, he reached out to gently cover her eyes. âAllison, letâs keep the surprise until the last moment,â he murmured, a playful edge to his voice.
She chuckled softly, unable to resist teasing him. âSure. Iâm intrigued to see what magic you have in store for a daytime fireworks display.â
She let him guide her by the wrist, and together they sank into the plush recliner, soft and inviting.
Allison was now nestled comfortably in Kellanâs embrace, and her eyes were gently covered by his hand. Though her vision was dark, the familiar scent of cedar surrounded her, soothing her senses and easing her into a rare sense of calm.
âHow am I supposed to see anything with my eyes closed?â Allison teased lightly.
âJust a minute,â Kellanâs deep, velvety voice replied.
