Chapter 673:
âNot necessarily. The man I took fingerprints from has been put to death today.â
Allisonâs expression darkened as she remembered Verruckt. Kellan, catching on, looked at her with concern.
âAllison, did you kill him?â
If she had, things would be far riskier for her in basement level one. It wasnât the kind of place where you could hide a body.
Allison quickly shook her head. âI met the labâs secret owner today. He didnât speak, but his men broke that manâs jaw. Heâs probably dead already, likely in Room 9, a slaughterhouse.â
Gordonâs expression turned serious. âIâve looked into their leader before. Heâs a ruthless man who even kills his own people. If youâre dealing with him, youâre in serious danger, Allison.â
Just from the way they spoke, the lab sounded like a terrifying place. Kellan noticed Allisonâs unease and asked, âIs the boss threatening you?â
âNot yet, but we need to act fast.â Allison took a deep breath. âIâve been assigned to a deeper level. My instincts tell me not to get too involved with him.â
If Verruckt had taken an interest and moved her deeper, it would bring much more attention, and her cover might not hold under closer scrutiny.
Kellan grabbed a blank piece of paper and began sketching. âIâve memorized the layout for the first floor and basement level one.â
He sketched as he spoke, capturing every detail, from the number of people in each office to every cameraâs position.
Allison glanced at the map. Kellanâs memory was almost photographic, and the camera placements matched the network Gordon and Amya had set up.
After a moment, she pointed to the location of the lab on basement level one.
âLilian should be here. I have the central control chip for this level.â
She handed the chip to Gordon, who immediately plugged it into the computer and began typing.
âLetâs have a look.â
After inputting his own code, he handed the chip back to Allison.
âOnce you plug this into the main console, I can control the basement level oneâs systems.â
Allison nodded.
âAlright, Iâll handle opening the lab door when itâs time.â
âBoss, when do we make our move?â Amya asked.
âWeâll watch for a few days. We need the right moment â ideally, when Verruckt isnât at the facility.â
âUnderstood.â As he realized how much Allison seemed to fear Verruckt, Gordon marked him as a priority target for surveillance.
